Dhanusha 3 is one of the constituency of national importance in Nepal. [2] [3] [4] Due to presence of some projects of national recognition like Rajarshi Janak University, ADB urban development project, Janakpur-Jatahi-Ayodhya 6 lane and Janakpur-Jaynagar railway this constituency is taken as the pocket area of Nepali Congress in regard to development. Dhanusha 3 incorporates Mukhiyapati Musharniya Rural Municipality, Nagarain Municipality, Dhanauj Rural Municipality, wards 9 of Bideha Municipality and wards 1–8, 10, 12, 15, 16, 20 and 23–25 of Janakpur Sub-metropolitan City.

Rajendra Mahato is a Nepalese politician, who had been serving as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development since 4 June 2021 but was removed from the post by the Supreme Court on 22 June 2021, making his tenure of just 18 days the shortest till date. He was the parliamentary party leader of the People's Socialist Party, Nepal, although the status matter of conflict within the party. Though weak today due to continuous party change, he once was a well known leader of Terai-Madhesh based political alliance. Now, he is thought to move to Sarlahi 4. He has previously contested the election from Sarlahi and Dhanusha where his party could win no local level head position and got clean swept in recent election.
Bimalendra Nidhi is a Nepali politician who serves as a member of the House of Representatives and a senior leader of Nepali Congress. He is a former Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal and Minister of Home Affairs of Nepal. Nidhi has also served as the Vice-president and General secretary of Nepali Congress, for tenures of four consecutive years each.
The Madhesh Provincial Assembly is a unicameral governing and law making body of Madhesh Province, one of the seven Provinces in Nepal, The assembly is seated in the provincial capital at Janakpur in Dhanusha District. The assembly has 107 members, 64 of whom are elected through single-member constituencies and 43 of whom are elected through the party list proportional representation system. They are elected for five-year terms unless the assembly is dissolved earlier.
