The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) is the upper house of the Parliament of South Africa under the (post-apartheid) constitution which came into full effect in 1997. It replaced the former Senate,but is very similar to that body,and to many other upper houses of legislatures throughout the world,in that its purpose is to represent the governments of the provinces,rather than directly representing the people.

He served in the NCOP until his election to the Western Cape Provincial Parliament in 2014. After the 2019 election,Joseph returned to Parliament to serve as an MP in the National Assembly until 2024.
Mohatla Alfred Tseki is a South African politician who served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from 2019 until 2024. Prior to his election to parliament,Tseki served as a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 2014 to 2019. He is a member of the African National Congress.
Nhlagongwe Patricia Mahlo is a South African politician who served as a member of the National Assembly of South Africa representing the African National Congress from 2019 until 2024. Mahlo had previously served as a member of the Limpopo Provincial Legislature and as the Capricorn District Municipality's Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Strategic Executive Management Services.

Shahidabibi Shaikh is a South African politician who has been the Chairperson of the Select Committee on Security and Justice in the National Council of Provinces since 2019. A member of the African National Congress,she has been a permanent delegate to the NCOP from Limpopo since 2019. Shaikh had previously served in the Limpopo Provincial Legislature from 2014 to 2019.
Litho Suka is a South African politician and former educator who served as a councillor of Nelson Mandela Bay from 2015 until 2021. He was chief whip of council between 2015 and 2016. Prior to serving in council,Suka was a Permanent Delegate to the National Council of Provinces from 2014 to 2015 and before that,a member of the National Assembly of South Africa from 2009 to 2014. Suka had served as a member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature from 1994 until 2009. He is a member of the African National Congress.
Daphne Zukiswa Rantho is a South African politician and educator who served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa for the African National Congress from 2014 to 2019. Prior to serving in the National Assembly,Rantho was a Permanent Delegate to the National Council of Provinces from 2009 to 2014.
