Dirk Crois (born 18 April 1961 in Bruges) is a Belgian rower.
Dirk Werner Nowitzki is a German former professional basketball player who is a special advisor for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Listed at 7 ft 0 in (2.13 m), he is widely regarded as one of the greatest power forwards of all time and is considered by many to be the greatest European player of all time. In 2021, he was selected to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team. In 2023, it was announced that Nowitzki would be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Dirk Richter is a former swimmer from East Germany, who won the bronze medal in the 4×100 freestyle medley twice during the Summer Olympics. He did so in 1988 with the East German team, alongside Thomas Flemming, Lars Hinneburg, and Steffen Zesner.
Lars Hinneburg is a former freestyle swimmer from East Germany, who competed for his native country at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. There he won the bronze medal in the men's 4×100 m freestyle relay, together with Steffen Zesner, Thomas Flemming, and Dirk Richter.

Dirk Baert is a Belgian retired road and track cyclist. On track, he won one gold and two bronze medals in the individual pursuit at the world championships in 1971, 1972 and 1975. He competed at the 1968 Summer Olympics in the 1 km time trial and finished in 18th place. On the road, he won the Omloop van de Vlaamse Scheldeboorden (1975), Le Samyn (1976), Halle–Ingooigem (1978) and Grote 1-MeiPrijs (1979), as well as one stage of the Tour of Belgium (1974). He rode the Tour de France in 1974.

The men's single sculls competition at the 1988 Summer Olympics took place at Misari Regatta, South Korea. The event was held from 19 to 24 September. It was the 20th appearance of the event, which had been held at every Olympic Games since the introduction of rowing in 1900. NOCs were limited to one boat apiece; 22 sent a competitor in the men's single sculls. Thomas Lange of East Germany won the event, denying Pertti Karppinen a record fourth-straight win and starting a two-Games winning streak of his own. Peter-Michael Kolbe of West Germany took his third silver, joining Karppinen and Vyacheslav Ivanov as three-time medalists in the event. New Zealand earned its first medal in the event since 1920, with Eric Verdonk taking bronze.
