South of Heaven is the fourth studio album by American thrash metal band Slayer. It was released in July 1988 on Rick Rubin's label Def Jam Recordings. The album was their band's second album produced by Rubin, following Reign in Blood (1986). Given the innovative speed metal pace of Reign in Blood, Slayer deliberately slowed the tempo on South of Heaven and used undistorted guitars and toned-down vocals.
Heart is an American rock band formed in 1973 in Seattle, Washington. The band evolved from previous projects led by founding members Roger Fisher (guitar) and Steve Fossen, including The Army (1967–1969), Hocus Pocus (1969–1970), and White Heart (1970–1973). By 1975, original members Fisher, Fossen, and Ann Wilson, along with Nancy Wilson, Michael Derosier (drums), and Howard Leese formed the lineup for the band's initial mid- to late-1970s success period. These core members were included in the band's 2013 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

He is known for playing the bulk of the instruments on his records. Spin magazine, in a career retrospective article dated March 26, 2021, recognized Yorn as one of his generation's best songwriters. Yorn’s 10th full length album, Hawaii, was released on June 17, 2022.

Hot Snakes were an American rock band led by Rick Froberg and John Reis, formed in 1999 in San Diego, California. Reis and Froberg had previously performed together in Pitchfork and Drive Like Jehu, after which Reis found international success with Rocket from the Crypt. Considered heavier, angrier and musically more aggressive than its predecessor Further, 13 continued to raise Solace above their stoner rock stereotype with its heavy metal and doom metal influences, this time with help from Scott "Wino" Weinrich. With comparisons made between 13 and albums from heavy bands Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, Solace was dubbed "one of the freshest sounds the metal scene has ever cultivated".

Warchest is a box set from the American heavy metal band Megadeth. Warchest features five discs and features studio tracks, demos and live recordings of a number of the band's songs from its first ten studio albums and rarities EP. The box set was released on October 9, 2007 by EMI/Capitol Records, and sold around 1,100 copies in the United States in its first week.
The Black Black is Solace's fifth studio recording. Referred to as "the distillation of thirty years of metal" and "the best material Solace has written", "The Black Black" was recorded at New Jersey's Trax East Studios over the course of a year. The album was compiled from tracks originally recorded for Solace's forthcoming album A.D. When the band realized that they simply had too much material for a single album, they removed four tracks for this EP.
Mutiny Within is the debut studio album by New Jersey heavy metal band, Mutiny Within, released on February 23, 2010 in the US, and on April 26, 2010 in the UK, both through Roadrunner Records. The album was recorded at Bieler Bros. Studios in Pompano Beach, Florida, produced by Jason Bieler, and mixed by Martyn "Ginge" Ford and Jeff Rose at Not-In-Pill Studios, Newport, Wales. This album was released in two different versions: the standard edition, which was released as a CD and included eleven tracks and a small illustrated booklet with lyrics; and the special edition, which was digitally released and included the eleven album tracks plus four bonus tracks. The self-titled debut album sold around 900 copies in the US in its first week of release, landing at position No. 41 on the "Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers)" chart.

Referred to as "captivating from the first note" and "a defining moment in underground heaviness", A.D. was recorded at New Jersey's Trax East Studios, Mad Oak Studios in Allston, Massachusetts, and Semaphore Studio in Chicago, Illinois, over the course of four years.
Anomalies, Vol. 1 is a compilation album by the American rock band Cave In. The album was officially released on December 14, 2010 through Hydra Head Records, however copies could be obtained one month earlier on Black Friday. Despite its title, Anomalies, Vol. 1 is actually the second release in Cave In's Anomalies series, which a grouping of releases that compile previously unreleased or rare tracks. Released earlier in 2010, Anomalies, Vol. 2 was a live album of a recorded performance from 2003.
