Chuhdary Parvez Elahi Warraich commonly referred to as Pervaiz Elahi is a Pakistani politician who is the former Chief Minister of Punjab. He was a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from August 2018 till January 2023, when he, as chief minister, dissolved the assembly. In 2023, he left the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) and joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) along with his son, Moonis Elahi, and 10 other former PML(Q) MPAs over political rifts with the party president and cousin, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. He was appointed president of the PTI. He was the former president of the Punjab Division of the PML(Q).

Pakistan has the 23rd largest prison population in the world and the 5th largest death row population. Around 64.5% of prisoners are awaiting trial prisoners. 98.6% of prisoners are male, 1.7% are juveniles and 1.2% of those held are foreign citizens. As of 2018 Pakistan had an official occupancy capacity for 56,499 prisoners but held 80,145 prisoners.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Gujrat Division</span> Division in Punjab, Pakistan

Gujrat Division is an administrative division of the Punjab province of Pakistan, with it being headquartered in the Gujrat city. It came into being on 17 August 2022 after districts Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, and Hafizabad of the previously Gujranwala Division were grouped together in a separate division, increasing the number of divisions in the province to ten. The Wazirabad District was later on 14 October 2022 added under Gujrat Division making it a total of four districts. The change was made official after a notification issued by the Board of Revenue under section 5 of the Punjab Land Revenue Act 1967. Before this bifurcation, Gujranwala division was among the largest in the province, with a population of approximately 16 million. Ahmad Kamal Maan was notified as the first commissioner of the division and Mohammad Akhtar Abbas will be the Regional police officer (RPO).
