Diyatha Uyana is located at Polduwa junction, Battaramulla near the Waters Edge Hotel. The park has been constructed on marshy land on the banks of the Diyawanna Oya. It sits between the Parliament Complex and the Diyawanna Oya at the Polduwa junction

History

The Diyatha Uyana Park built along the banks of the Diyawanna Oya was opened on 15 September 2014. The opening ceremony of the "Diyatha Uyana" was attended by the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa AKA Kaputa and Secretary Defence and Urban Development president, Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The project was carried out by the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy and Civil Security Department personnel under the close guidance and supervision of Secretary Defence and Urban Development Gotabaya Rajapaksa. [1]

Floating restaurant

The Water’s Edge floating restaurant was opened in December 2014. The construction of the floating restaurant was undertaken under the offshore patrol construction project of the Sri Lanka Navy to a local plan. Today this restaurant is managed by water sage hotel management. The restaurant can accommodate 36 to 55 people. It is 16 m (51 ft) in length and 9.4 m (31 ft) wide. A technical team of the Navy was appointed to handle all mechanical issues with the hotel crew for serving with a chef. Night rides are also available enabling tourists to view the city at dusk. The floating restaurant also accommodates individual functions. [2]

The Rajapaksa family is a Sri Lankan family that is prominent in politics. It was one of Sri Lanka's most powerful families during Mahinda Rajapaksa's presidency, when many members of the family occupied senior positions in the Sri Lankan state. As their political power grew, there were reports suggesting that the country was heading towards autocracy under their rule. Following the unexpected defeat of Mahinda Rajapaksa in the 2015 presidential election, they have been accused of authoritarianism, corruption, nepotism and bad governance. In the 2019 presidential election, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the brother of Mahinda Rajapaksa, ran and won. The popularity of the Rajapaksa family collapsed after their actions caused the economic crisis that started in 2019, resulting in Sri Lanka defaulting on its debt for the first time in its post-independence history within just 30 months of coming to power. The extended Rajapaksa family is believed to have amassed a large amount of wealth and while the amount of and scale is unknown several members of the family have been revealed in international investigations such as the Pandora Papers to be using networks of shell companies and trusts to hide their wealth in offshore tax havens which has led to accusations of Rajapaksas turning Sri Lanka into a Kleptocracy

Kulappu Arachchige Don Dhammika Perera, commonly known as Dhammika Perera, is a Sri Lankan billionaire businessman and politician. A top corporate leader, he is one of the wealthiest people in Sri Lanka, controlling 23 listed companies on the Colombo Stock Exchange. Perera owns a controlling stake in the conglomerates Hayleys and Vallibel One, a company he founded. Through Hayleys, Perera controls Amaya Leisure, The Kingsbury and Singer while Royal Ceramics, LB Finance, and Lanka Tiles are controlled by Vallibel One. Perera has been closely linked to the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, having served as chairman of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka from 2007 to 2010 and Transport Secretary from 2011 to 2015. He was appointed a Member of Parliament in the National List in June 2022, succeeding Basil Rajapaksa from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, briefly serving President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as his Minister of Investment Promotion from June to July 2022.

Rakna Arakshaka Lanka also called Rakna Arakshaka Lanka LTD. under the companies Act No. 07 of 2007. Company was government own security service company. It's affiliations of the Ministry of Defence Sri Lanka. The company was founded by the former Secretary of the Ministry of Defence and currently serving President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The company mainly target the commercial sector. In 2016 cabinet approval has been granted to dissolve the company. But company return from the after 2019 Sri Lankan presidential election. Most employees are retired Army officers and Police officers. Approximately 2,500 security officers serving today.

The 2022 Sri Lankan protests, commonly known as Aragalaya, were a series of mass protests that began in March 2022 against the government of Sri Lanka. The government was heavily criticized for mismanaging the Sri Lankan economy, which led to a subsequent economic crisis involving severe inflation, daily blackouts, and a shortage of fuel, domestic gas, and other essential goods. The protesters' main demand was the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and key officials from the Rajapaksa family. Despite the involvement of several opposition parties, most protesters considered themselves to be apolitical, with many expressing discontent with the parliamentary opposition. Protesters chanted slogans such as "Go Home Gota", "Go Home Rajapaksas", and "Aragalayata Jaya Wewa". Most protests were organized by the general public, with youths playing a major part by carrying out protests at Galle Face Green.

D. A. Rajapaksa Museum also simply called the Rajapaksa Museum is a museum in Hambantota, Sri Lanka dedicated to the late D. A. Rajapaksa and his wife Dandina Rajapaksa of the Rajapaksa family, the parents of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The museum contained personal belongings of D.A and Dandina Rajapaksa including handwritten letters and photos of the Rajapaksa family. The construction of the museum has attracted controversy over the misuse of public funds and the use of state institutions such as the Sri Lankan Navy and Urban Development Authority. It was largely destroyed during the 2022 Sri Lankan Protests.
