Honorable Dol Prasad Aryal is a Nepalese politician and the current Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security. Previously, In 2023, he served the same position for a term of 19 days in the Prachanda-led government. He is a member of the Pratinidhi Sabha, having been elected as a proportional representative from the Khas people category in the 2022 Nepalese general election. [1] [2]
He briefly served as the acting chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party in January 2023 when Rabi Lamichhane was stripped of all his positions after his citizenship was declared invalid by the Supreme Court. [3] [4]

Rajendra Mahato is a Nepalese politician, who was serving as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development since 4 June 2021 but was removed from the post by Supreme Court on 22 June 2021 making the tenure of just 18 days and shortest till date. Rabi Lamichhane is a Nepali politician currently serving as Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of Nepal. A former journalist, Lamichhane became a member of the House of Representatives from Chitwan 2 on April 28, 2023, having previously represented the constituency from December 2022 to January 2023 before being stripped of his position by the Supreme Court.

The by-election was held as the result of the vacation of the seat by the sitting member, Rabi Lamichhane, president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party. It was held alongside by-elections in Tanahun 1 and Bara 2.
