Doly Shaontoni (born 3 April 1974) [1] is a Bangladeshi playback singer [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] and businesswoman. [8] She releases solo, duet, and mixed albums and also songs for Bangladeshi cinema. She released 15 solo albums, over 100 duet songs and mixed albums and also sings in over 700 Bengali films. [9] [10] [7] Her notable film playback songs include "Tomare Tomare", "O Pakhi Re", "Tui Jodi Hoiti Bhala", "Ek Jhak Pakhi", and "Boli Boli Kore". [11]

In November 2023, Shaontoni submitted papers as a Bangladesh Nationalist Movement party candidate to represent the Pabna-2 constituency for the 2024 Bangladeshi general election. [12]

Early life

Doly Shaontoni was born in Pabna to Monowara Begum, a folk singer. [1] Her other siblings, Badsha Bulbul and Poly Shaontoni, are also musicians. [1] Monowara used to sing regularly at the Durbar event of Bangladesh Radio including a song titled Curly Curly Hair. [13] Shaontoni started working as a child artist in Bangladesh Radio. Her radio show was called Kolokakoli. She started working as a child singer listed only for Bangladesh Radio in 1984. Her first album was released by Milton Khondokar in 1989. [1]

Mahadi Faisal is a Bangladeshi singer and composer. He has released several albums and singles. He participated in the reality competition series for children, Notun Kuri, on Bangladesh Television (BTV) in 1995. In 2005, he participated in another musical reality show, Close Up-1. He launched his first album, titled Bondona in 2007, under the banner of Gaanchill Music. The lyrics of the album were penned by Asif Iqbal and composed by Prince Mahmud. "O Priyotoma" is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language duet song sung by Balam and Somnur Monir Konal and composed by Akassh from the 2023 soundtrack album Priyotoma of the film of the same name, starring Shakib Khan and Idhika Paul. The song is written by Asif Iqbal. The song was released on 27 June 2023. The music video for the song was released on the same day under the music label Tiger Media.
