Datu Zajid Gaguil "Dong" Mangudadatu (October 10,1970) is a Filipino politician who formerly represented Maguindanao's 2nd district.
Mangudadatu started his political career after being elected as Mayor of Datu Piang,Maguindanao,and served for two terms from 2007 to 2013. [1] After mayoral,he was elected and served for two terms as 2nd District congressman of Maguindanao from 2013 until 2019. [2] [3] [4]
He ran for senate in 2019, [3] under Hugpong ng Pagbabago slate,but lost and placed 19th in overall tally. [5]
Maguindanao was a province of the Philippines located in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). From 2014 to 2022,its provincial capital was Buluan,but the legislative branch of government,the Maguindanao Provincial Board,convened at the old provincial capitol in Sultan Kudarat. It bordered Lanao del Sur to the north,Cotabato to the east,Sultan Kudarat to the south,and Illana Bay to the west.

The name "Maguindanao/Magindanaw" itself was corrupted by Spanish sources into "Mindanao",which became the name for the entire island of Mindanao.
Aquilino Martin "Koko" de la Llana Pimentel III,is a Filipino politician and lawyer serving as the Senate Minority Leader since 2022. He has been a Senator since 2011 and previously served as the Senate President of the Philippines from 2016 to 2018. He also served as the national chairman of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP–Laban). As the eldest son and third child of the former Senate President Aquilino Pimentel Jr.,he is the first child of a previous Senate president to hold the office. He was sworn in on August 12,2011,and was proclaimed as the 12th winning senator in the 2007 election. Pimentel was one of the high-ranking public officials who drew flak for breaching the COVID-19 quarantine protocols.
Pakung S. Mandudadatu is a Filipino politician who served as provincial governor of Sultan Kudarat from 2016 to 2019. He also served the same post from 1998 to 2007 and was elected Representative of the 1st district of Sultan Kudarat with Tacurong under the administration's Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi) party in 2007. He ran for Mayor in Lutayan,Sultan Kudarat this 2022 with his grandson,the current mayor of Lutayan,Prince Raden Mangudadatu Sakaluran running for Vice Mayor.
The Maguindanao massacre occurred on the morning of November 23,2009,in the town of Ampatuan in Maguindanao,Philippines. The 58 victims were on their way to file a certificate of candidacy for Esmael Mangudadatu,vice mayor of Buluan,when they were kidnapped and later killed. Mangudadatu was challenging Datu Unsay mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr.,son of the incumbent Maguindanao governor Andal Ampatuan Sr. and member of one of Mindanao's leading Muslim political clans,in the forthcoming Maguindanao gubernatorial election,part of the national elections in 2010. The people killed included Mangudadatu's wife,his two sisters,journalists,lawyers,aides,and motorists who were witnesses or were mistakenly identified as part of the convoy.
Esmael Gaguil Mangudadatu is a Filipino politician who previously served as the representative of Maguindanao's 2nd district from 2019 to 2022. He also served as the governor of Maguindanao from 2010 to 2019. In Buluan town,he served as the mayor from 1998 to 2007,and vice mayor from 2007 to 2010.
Andal Uy Ampatuan Jr. is a Filipino convicted mass murderer and former politician. He is one of the main perpetrators of the Maguindanao massacre along with his father,brothers,and nephews. At the time of the massacre,he was the outgoing mayor of Datu Unsay,Maguindanao,and was planning to run for provincial governor,the position his father,Andal Sr.,was set to vacate. Esmael Mangudadatu,from a rival political clan,declared his candidacy for the 2010 gubernatorial elections,thus challenging Ampatuan for the post. The Ampatuans carried out the massacre to kill Mangudadatu.
Datu Tucao Ong Mastura is a Filipino politician. He is the younger brother of the lawyer,historian,professor and former Maguindanao First District and Cotabato City Congressman Datu Michael Mastura,and an older brother of Mayor Datu Armando Mastura of Sultan Mastura,Maguindanao.
