Louie Croft Boyd was an American nurse,hospital superintendent of nurses,nursing instructor,and writer. As a lobbyist for the newly formed Colorado State Trained Nurses Association,she advocated for legislation to regulate the licensing of nurses in Colorado. Upon passage of the bill in 1905,she applied for and became the first licensed nurse in the state. She was posthumously inducted into the Colorado Nurses Association Hall of Fame and the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame in 2004.
Helen Peterson was a Cheyenne-Lakota activist and lobbyist. She was the first director of the Denver Commission on Human Relations. She was the second Native American woman to become director of the National Congress of American Indians at a time when the government wanted to discharge their treaty obligations to the tribes by eliminating their tribal governments through the Indian termination policy and forcing the tribe members to assimilate into the mainstream culture. She authored a resolution on Native American education,which was ratified at the second Inter-American Indian Conference,held in Cuzco,Peru. In 1986,Peterson was inducted into the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame and the following year,her papers were donated to the Smithsonian's National Anthropological Archives and they are now held at the National Museum of the American Indian.

Donna Rae Gabaccia is an American historian who studies international migration,with an emphasis on cultural exchange,such as food and from a gendered perspective. From 2003 to 2005 she was the Andrew Mellon Professor of History at the University of Pittsburgh and from 2005 to 2012 she held the Rudolph J. Vecoli Chair of Immigration History at the University of Minnesota. During the same period,she was the director of the Immigration History Research Center at the University of Minnesota. In 2013,her book,Foreign Relations:Global Perspectives on American Immigration won the Immigration and Ethnic History Society's Theodore Saloutos Prize in 2013.
