Donovan Miller (born 14 January 1979) [1] is a Jamaican-born former cricketer and current cricket coach. He represented Melbourne Cricket Club before moving to the UK, where he played 2nd XI cricket for Essex, Derbyshire, and minor county cricket for Hertfordshire. He played a role assisting Essex during the 2016 and 2017 County Championship campaigns, before commencing various roles for T20 franchises around the world. He was also part of the support staff for England's World Cup-winning campaign in 2019, as well as the Ashes series that followed later that summer.

Caribbean Premier League

He was a part of the coaching staff for the Jamaica Tallawahs franchise in their CPL-winning 2016 season. He was then head coach of the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots for the 2017 (in which they finished runners-up), and 2018 (in which they finished 3rd) seasons, before returning to the Tallawahs as head coach in 2019. [2] He is currently the assistant coach to Andy Flower for the St Lucia Zouks, who finished as runners-up in the 2020 season.

Other Franchise Tournaments

Miller has also seen success in the Global T20 Canada tournament as head coach of the Vancouver Knights team. In the tournament's first edition in 2018, the Knights were victorious in the final against the Cricket West Indies team. The team then narrowly failed to defend their title the next year, losing the final in a super over to the Winnipeg Hawks.

He was part of the coaching staff for the title-winning Jozi Stars in the inaugural season of the Mzansi Super League, before being named head coach of the franchise for their 2019 season; [3] [4] this made him the only non-South African head coach in the competition.

In the 2020 edition of the Pakistan Super League, he was the bowling coach for Islamabad United. [5]

Islamabad United is a Pakistani professional Twenty20 franchise cricket team that competes in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The team's nickname is IU. Islamabad United are the inaugural champions of the Pakistan Super League. The team is nominally based in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan and was formed in 2015 to compete in the first season of the Pakistan Super League. The 2019 Caribbean Premier League (CPLT20) was the seventh season of the Caribbean Premier League, the domestic Twenty20 cricket league in the West Indies. Matches were played in six countries – Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Guyana, Barbados, Jamaica and Saint Lucia. Originally, the tournament was scheduled to start on 21 August 2019. However, this was pushed back to 4 September 2019, to avoid clashing with India's tour to the West Indies.

The 2019 Mzansi Super League, also known as the MSL 2.0, was the second edition of the Mzansi Super League (MSL) Twenty20 (T20) franchise cricket tournament in South Africa. It started on 8 November and ended on 16 December 2019. Jozi Stars were the defending champions, having won the inaugural 2018 tournament.

The 2020 Caribbean Premier League (CPLT20) was the eighth season of the Caribbean Premier League, the domestic Twenty20 cricket league played in the West Indies. Matches were played in six countries – Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Guyana, Barbados, Jamaica and Saint Lucia. The tournament started on 18 August and ended on 10 September 2020. On 10 July 2020, the local government gave its approval for the tournament to go ahead, with all the matches taking place at two venues behind closed doors. The full schedule for the tournament was confirmed on 27 July 2020. On 6 August 2020, an official press release stated that all players, officials and administrators involved in the league had tested negative on arrival ahead of a two weeks quarantine period.
