Dorothy Belle Rupert (born October 20, 1926) is an American politician who served as a member in the Colorado Senate from the 18th district.
On October 20, 1926, Rupert was born on a farm in Meadow Grove, Nebraska. [1] [2]
In 1948, Rupert earned a Bachelor of Arys degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1967, Rupert earned a master's degree in counseling and psych from University of Colorado Boulder. In 1993, Rupert earned a degree from Harvard University. [1] [2]
Rupert is a former teacher and counselor in Colorado public schools. [3] [2]
In 1958, Rupert became a member of the city council in Thornton, Colorado, until 1961. [1]
In 2009, Rupert became a co-founder of Growing Up Boulder. [4]
Rupert's husband is Richard Rupert. In 1960, Rupert and her family moved to Boulder, Colorado. They have two children. [1] [2]
In 2001, Rupert's husband had a stroke and later had Alzheimer's Disease. While Rupert lived in Colorado, her husband was relocated to a nursing home in Louisiana. [6]

Dorothy Louise Vennard Lamm is an American feminist, women's rights activist, educator, author, and speaker. She was First Lady of Colorado during her husband Richard Lamm's three terms as Governor of Colorado (1975–1987), and unsuccessfully ran for the United States Senate as the Colorado Democratic candidate in 1998. She wrote a weekly column for The Denver Post from 1979 to 1996 and later published three books. She was inducted into the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame in 1985.
Penny Rafferty Hamilton is an American retired pilot, aviation educator, writer, and photographer. She is noted for her two-year study of women in aviation, the Teaching Women to Fly Research Project, which identified barriers to women training as pilots and presented 101 strategies to increase the participation of women in aviation. She also interests children in aviation, giving talks in schools and libraries as the character "Penny the Pilot". She and her husband jointly hold a World Aviation Speed Record set in 1991. In addition to writing for aviation magazines, she has published books on the history of Granby, Colorado, where she has resided since 1989. Ruth Cave Flowers (1903–1980) was one of the first African American female graduates from the University of Colorado (CU). Described by former colleague Dorothy Rupert as having an “infectious love of learning”, Flowers was a lawyer and educator who taught at several high schools and colleges across the country.

Mildred Pitts Walter is an American children's book writer, known for her works featuring African-American protagonists. Walter has written over 20 books for young readers, including fiction and nonfiction. Several of her books have won or been named to the honor list of the Coretta Scott King Awards. A native of Louisiana who later moved to Denver, Walter was inducted into the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame in 1996. She published her autobiography, Something Inside So Strong: Life in Pursuit of Choice, Courage, and Change, in 2019.

She is the first female President of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Americas and director of the United States women's national basketball team. Under her guidance, she has helped lead the United States to six consecutive Olympic gold medals from 1996 until 2012 and four World Championships.
