Douglas George Logan y Gonzales de Mendoza (born 1943) is an American sports executive. [1]
He was the inaugural commissioner of Major League Soccer,and later served as the CEO of USA Track &Field.
Logan was born in New Jersey to an American father and Cuban mother. [2]
He was studying civil engineering at Manhattan College when he was drafted into the military in 1964. He served with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam and was decorated with two Bronze Stars. He later studied at the University of Baltimore Law School,graduating in 1972. [3]
From 1986 to 1993,Logan was a senior vice president of Ogden Entertainment Services. He later became president and chief executive officer of Mexican entertainment company OCESA. [4] Under his management,the Mexico Aztecas of the Continental Basketball Association became the first American professional sports franchise based in Mexico. [5] The Aztecas relocated to San Diego and became the Wildcards for the 1996 season before folding. [6]
In 1995,Logan was named the first commissioner of Major League Soccer,serving in that capacity through 1999. Sports Business Daily named Logan and the MLS staff Sports Industrialists of the Year for 1996.[ citation needed ] During Logan's last year at MLS,the league lost $34 million. [7] MLS was reported to have lost $250 million in its first five years under Logan. [8]
In 1999,Logan formed the sports consulting firm Empresario. In 2001,he was hired as a consultant in the creation of a professional National Rugby League,structuring the new league as a "single entity" system.
In 2008,Logan was appointed the CEO of USA Track &Field. In September 2010,the USATF Board announced it had fired Logan. [9] Logan later filed a lawsuit for wrongful termination which was ultimately settled. [10]

Dignity Health Sports Park is a multi-use sports complex located on the campus of California State University,Dominguez Hills in Carson,California. The complex consists of the 27,000-seat Dignity Health Sports Park soccer stadium,the Dignity Health Sports Park tennis stadium,a track-and-field facility,and the VELO Sports Center velodrome. It is approximately 14 miles (23 km) south of downtown Los Angeles,and its primary tenant is the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer (MLS). The main stadium is also home to the Los Angeles Wildcats of the XFL. The LA Galaxy II of the USL Championship play their home matches at the complex's track and field facility. For 2020 and 2021,the stadium served as the temporary home of the San Diego State Aztecs football team.
Landon Timothy Donovan is an American former professional soccer player. Donovan is also the co-founder and vice-president of soccer operations for USL Championship side San Diego Loyal SC,and serves as a strategic advisor for English side Lincoln City. He was voted as the best U.S. soccer player of all time by a poll conducted by ESPN,along with Major League Soccer having ranked Donovan as the greatest American soccer player of all time.
Kyle Robert Beckerman is an American former professional soccer player who played as a midfielder. He spent 21 seasons in Major League Soccer (MLS) with the Miami Fusion (2000–2001),Colorado Rapids (2002–2007) and Real Salt Lake (2007–2020). He was a starting central defensive midfielder and captain when RSL won MLS Cup 2009. He also earned 58 caps with the United States national team.

The SuperLiga was an official North American association football competition between teams from the Liga MX of Mexico and Major League Soccer of the United States and Canada,the top divisions in each country. The competition was sanctioned by CONCACAF,U.S. Soccer,the Canadian Soccer Association and Federación Mexicana de Fútbol and served as the sub-regional championship for the North American section of CONCACAF,much like its Central American and Caribbean counterparts,the Copa Interclubes UNCAF and CFU Club Championship respectively. The tournament was first held in 2007 and was cancelled in March 2011.

The History of Major League Soccer began in 1988,when the United States Soccer Federation pledged to create a Division 1 professional soccer league as a condition to FIFA awarding the 1994 FIFA World Cup to the United States. MLS currently has 28 teams,with further expansion planned. The league plans to expand to 29 teams with the addition of St. Louis in 2023. MLS is currently the largest first division professional soccer league in the world.

The San Diego Wildcards were a men's professional basketball team representing San Diego,California who competed in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) during the 1995–96 season. The team was owned by Southern California based sports executive Doug Logan and coached by Mauro Panaggio,who has the most wins as a coach in CBA history. The San Diego Sports Arena served as the Wildcards' home venue. The team folded on January 5,1996 after placing a 4–17 record.

The franchise's ownership group is led by British-Egyptian businessman Mohamed Mansour and the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation,a federally recognized Indian tribe. They were awarded an expansion team on May 18,2023;the team will be the 30th in Major League Soccer.
