Doug Mood (born November 3, 1943) is an American politician in the state of Montana. He served in the Montana House of Representatives from 1996 to 2004. In 2003 he served as Speaker of the House, and from 1999 to 2001 as Speaker pro tempore. [1] [2] Mood is a businessman and attended the University of Montana. From 2005 to 2009, he also served on the Montana Public Service Commission as vice chair. [3]

The sexual misconduct stemmed from inappropriate texts he sent in 2017 to female colleagues between mid-August and October. Allegations and anecdotes began circulating of his history sexual misconduct on the reservation. He ran for re-election as Representative of District 32 and served in the 2021 session.

John Quincy Farmer was a Minnesota politician, jurist, and Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives. He first served in the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1866, and was elected speaker one year later, serving in the position until he left the house in 1868. The 1978 United States Senate election in Montana took place on November 7, 1978. Following the death of United States Senator Lee Metcalf on January 12, 1978, Montana Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul G. Hatfield was appointed to serve for the remainder of Metcalf's term. Hatfield opted to run for a full term, but was overwhelmingly defeated in the Democratic primary by U.S. Representative Max Baucus of the 1st congressional district. Baucus advanced to the general election, where he was opposed by the Republican nominee, author Larry R. Williams. Baucus ended up defeating Williams by a solid margin to win his first term in the Senate, and, following Hatfield's resignation on December 12, 1978, he began serving his first term in the Senate.

John A. Mercer is an American politician and attorney in the state of Montana. He served in the Montana House of Representatives from 1984 to 2000. From 1993 to 1999 he served four terms as Speaker of the House, and in 1993 served as minority leader. He is the longest serving Speaker of the House of Montana in state history. After serving as chairman of the Montana Board of Regents, Mercer ended a considerable career in public service.
