Dream Empire Music (abbr. D.E.M) is a Nigerian record label founded by an entertainment businessman Chimaobi C Mbataku in 2014. [2] Dream Empire Music services include music publishing, music recording, merchandising, audiovisual content, branding, and management. The label currently houses artists like Majeeed, Verchi, and Lisa Viola. Artists formerly signed to the label, include F2.
In 2014, Chimaobi C Mbataku founded DC Records as a music promotional company. In 2020, he re-branded the company and began operating as Dream Empire Music, as a record label. In the same year, he unveiled Verchi, and F2 as its first signee. [3] In 2021, the company launched operations in Lagos, with its corporate headquarter and added Majeeed, and Lisa Viola to its roster. [4]
Dream Empire Music was established to help young people with the same idea accomplish their dreams, especially the talented ones, says Chimaobi the label CEO to Olushola Victor of The Nation. [5] Following the re-branding of the imprint, Dream Empire Music CEO, Chimaobi C Mbataku appoints Raymond Ifie as managing director, and head of A&R of Dream Empire Music. [6]
A year after Majeeed signed with the label, he released his first project Bitter Sweet , [7] which spawned the hit track "Yawa No Dey End" which peaked at number 41 on Official Nigeria Top 100. On 25 May 2023, the label signed an exclusive distribution partnership deal with EMPIRE regarding Majeeed's second project Cheers To Life., which peaked at number 34 on Nigeria's Top 50 Albums. P-Square is a Nigerian Music duo, consisting of the twin brothers Peter Okoye and Paul Okoye, who co-write and co-produce much of their records. Chocolate City is a Nigerian record label founded in 2005 by lawyer Audu Maikori, Paul Okeugo and Yahaya Maikori. Generally regarded as one of the most successful indigenous urban record labels in Africa, Chocolate City operates as a subsidiary of Chocolate City Group. Edison Ogums, known professionally as Ecko Miles, is a Nigerian musician and entrepreneur from Port Harcourt. He gained recognition after collaborating with Odumodublvck and Zlatan on the single "Picanto", which was released on 23 November 2022. The song debuted at number 79 on the TurnTable Top 100 chart, earning him his first chart entry. On 23 January 2023, "Picanto" peaked at number 65 on the chart, and Miles was ranked 6th on TurnTable's NXT Emerging Top Artistes list. He is the CEO and co-founder of Daed Empire Records.
