Ekeh Chiaka Joseph (born November 28) known professionally as Majeeed is a Nigerian afropop singer and songwriter signed to Dream Empire Music. He is known for his breakthrough single "Yawa No Dey End", released in 2022 as the lead single off his extended play Bitter Sweet. [1] On 29 April 2022, a new version of "Yawa No Dey End", was released with Joeboy, through Dream Empire Music, and emPawa Africa, which peaked at number 41 on the Nigeria TurnTable Top 50 chart, on the week of May 9, 2022. [1]
He was cited as one of the 10 African Artists You Should Know by Audiomack, after he surpassed 1 million streams in April 2022. [2] On 11 July 2022, "Yawa No Dey End" debuted on the newly launched TurnTable Top 100, an expansion of the Top 50, at number 59. [3] On 13 July 2022, following the initial launch of the TurnTable Top Afro-Pop Songs chart, "Yawa No Dey End" debuted at number 30. [4] On 16 July 2022, he was cited as one of the artists on the initial issue of the TurnTable Artiste Top 100 chart, and debuted at number 80. [5]
Ekeh Chiaka Joseph was born on November 28 in Lagos to Nze Oliver and Nze Grace. [6] He hails from Imo, a state in the south east region of Nigeria. [6] He relocated to Ogun State at the age of eight. [6] He had his primary education at Iyana Ipaja, in Lagos State, [6] and his secondary education in Ogun State, before proceeding to Cotonou, for his tertiary education at Iscom University Benin, where he graduated with a B.Sc in Mass Communication. [6] On 6 February 2022, he told Ayo Makinde, and Alero Edu on Sunrise, "I started music, while I was in secondary school; in JSS2, that time I use to kolobi my mom's money to go to the studio, and just make music." [7]
Majeeed began his music career as a songwriter to Seyi Shay. [8] In 2020, he released two promotional singles, titled "Gee For Life", and "Rocky Lo", which features Seyi Shay. [9] "Rocky Lo" was made available for free downloads. Late 2020, he began learning music production. In February 2022, he told Vangaurd, "I produced 'Time' at Harrysong's house." [7] On 19 February 2021, Majeeed released "Time", as the first single off Bitter Sweeet [10] ep, which peaked at number 8 on Apple Music in Nigeria, and number 10 in Mauritius. [11]
In the second quarter of 2021,he signed a record deal with Dream Empire Music on 20 August, [12] and was on the line-up for the 2021 edition of the Felabration, held at New Afrika Shrine on October 11. [13] At Big Girl listening party on November 20, 2021, Seyi Shay called out Majeeed, as the primary writer of Big Girl studio album. [14] She said, "I don tell everybody, say you write all the songs, way they for this album". He opened for BNXN (formerly Buju) at Buju Live in Concert in Lagos, held on 22 December 2021. [13]
On 6 January 2022, he released an acoustic version of "Time", as his first official single under Dream Empire Music. He achieved mainstream with "Yawa No Dey End", a record co-signed by Don Jazzy, and Tiwa Savage. [15] On 16 April 2022, he covered Pulse Nigeria Future Sounds playlist. [16] and re-released "Yawa No Dey End" with Joeboy, through emPawa on 29 April 2022. [17] It debut at number 41 on TurnTable Top 50. [18] On 3 May 2022, he was cited as one of the Best New Artists, by The Native, [19] among other artists.
On 7 May 2022, he opened for Reminisce, CDQ, and Terry Apala at Urban Live, a music concert curated by Urban96 Radio Network monthly. On 26 June 2022, he was on the line-up of Funbi's Bus, The Journey So Far edition, and Mainland Block Party, Music is Life edition, alongside Ice Prince, and Blaqbonez. [20] On 2 July 2022, he released the official music video for "No Room For Love", directed by Olu the Wave, and featured a cameo appearance from Sylvia Adora, a Nigerian actress known for her role in Papa Benji. On 27 July 2022, he was named Apple Music 'Up Next' Artist in Nigeria. [22] On 30 July 2022, Majeeed sold-out his first solo international concert in Mauritius, named after the most played song on his ep in Mauritius, "Smile For Me". [23] On 1 August 2022, "Smile For Me" reached number one on Mauritius Apple Music Top Songs. [24] On 5 August 2022, "No Room For Love" debut on TurnTable. It peaked at number 11 on Bubbling Under Top 100, [25] number 14 on Top Afro-R&B Songs [26] and number 9 on NXT Emerging Top Songs. [27]
The Tiwa Savage-assisted track "Gbese" was released on 22 February 2023, through Dream Empire Music and published by EMPIRE. [28] It was produced by Masterkraft. [28] The song debuted at 38 on the Official Nigeria Top 100 and at number 26 on the Nigeria Top Afro-POP Songs. On 4 May 2023, the music video for "Gbese" was released and directed by Clarence Peters for Dream Empire Music and EMPIRE. [29] In May 2023, Majeeed performed "Gbese" with Tiwa Savage at Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards held in Lagos. [30]
The Bnxn-assisted track "Waka Jeje" was released on 5 July 2023 off Cheers To Life. EP, as the third single. [30] The song debuted at 73 on the Official Nigeria Top 100. On 6 September 2023, Cheers To Life. was released through EMPIRE for Dream Empire Music. [31] In November 2023, he was featured by Super Eagles on the official theme song "Let's Do It Again". [32] On 11 January 2024, he leads the national anthem and performed the AFCON theme song at the Send Forth Dinner Party held in Lagos State Governor's House.
On 6 June 2024, Dream Empire Music managing director and senior A&R; Raymond Ifie reveals Dream Empire Music and EMPIRE's plan for Majeeed to release a 2-pack single each month, from June to August. [33] On 7 June 2024, Majeeed released the first pack-singles titled "California / Rollercoaster (Laba Laba)". [34] "California" was produced by Mystro during his California trip, while "Rollercoaster (Laba Laba)" was produced by Ceecee Beatz. [34] It's accompanying visual for "California" was shot by D6ix and Brandon in California.
On 8 September 2024, Majeeed signed an endorsement deal with BetBaba, an online sports betting company. [35]
Majeeed is known for fusing Afrobeats. He tells Chinonso Ihekire of The Guardian, "I came up with the name five years ago, and chose to use the name, because it embodies my attributes as a person. Majeed means noble, or magnificent, in Arabic". [15] He cited Tope Alabi, Chief Osadebe, Oliver De Coque, and Baba Ara, as his early musical influence. [15] On 9 March 2022, he spoke about his music journey, and personal life, aside being an artiste, songwriter, and an aspiring producer, on Television Continental program E-Splash. [36]

Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua, known professionally as Seyi Shay, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress. In 2008, she became the lead singer for the now defunct pop girl group From Above. The group signed a recording deal with Sony's Columbia Records and was managed by Mathew Knowles' Music World Entertainment company. In November 2013, Shay signed an endorsement deal with telecommunications service provider Etisalat. In July 2015, she signed a record deal with Island Records. In 2015, she signed a two-year endorsement deal with Pepsi. Shay released her debut studio album Seyi or Shay in November 2015. It was supported by the promotional singles "Irawo", "Ragga Ragga", "Right Now" and "Murda", featuring Patoranking and Shaydee. In January 2021, she signed a publishing deal with the French division of Universal Music Publishing Group
"Eminado" is a song by Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage. It features vocals by Don Jazzy and was released as the seventh single from her debut studio album, Once Upon a Time (2013). The song peaked at number two on MTV Base's Official Naija Top 10 chart for the week of March 7 through March 13, 2014. "Eminado" was ranked tenth on Vanguard's list of the top ten hit songs that made 2013. The song received generally positive reviews from music critics and consumers. Conversely, its music video was criticized for having a lot of similarities to the "Asinamali" music video by Tumi and the Volume. "Eminado" was nominated for Hottest Single of the Year at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards and for World's Best Song at the 2014 World Music Awards.
Oluseye Desmond Sodamola, professionally known as Spinall, is a Nigerian disc jockey, record producer, and songwriter. Ayodele Basil, better known as Del B, is a Nigerian (composer) sound engineer, record producer. and songwriter. He is best known for producing Kcee's hit single "Limpopo", which went on to be voted Song of The Year at the 2013 edition of The Headies. In 2012, he produced the single "Shake" by Flavour N'abania, which received critical acclaim among music critics.

"Love Don't Cost a Dime" is a song by Nigerian singer and songwriter Magixx, from his eponymous debut EP Magixx. It was officially released as a single on 24 September 2021 by Mavin Records. The song was written by Magixx, and produced by Lomon. A new version of the song titled "Love Don't Cost a Dime (Re-Up)" featuring Nigerian singer Ayra Starr was released as a single in 2022.

Motolani Olusegun Alake, known professionally as Motolani Alake, is a Nigerian lawyer, music executive, entrepreneur, public speaker, podcast host, and TV host, who has also been a pop culture commentator, and journalist. He was the Editor-In-Chief at Pulse Nigeria from March 2022 to December 2022. He currently serves as the chart manager for Nigeria's TurnTable Top Afro-Pop Songs chart. Alake was recruited by the African Union to join All Africa Music Awards as one of its juries for West Africa in 2022.
Samuel Idowu Oluwadarasimi, better known by his stage name Soundz, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and record producer signed to AfroNext Entertainment. He came into the music scene with an acclaimed extended play In The Rough, with the lead track "Attention" released in 2022. Oludipe Oluwasanmi David professionally known as Spyro is a Nigerian singer and songwriter, he gained widespread recognition after the release of his single "Billing" which was released in July 2022. He is best known for his song "Who is your Guy?" which was first released in November 2022 and re-released in March 2023 as a remix featuring Tiwa Savage. Crown Uzama, known professionally as Shallipopi, is a Nigerian singer, rapper, and songwriter. He gained recognition in 2023 with the release of his single, "Elon Musk". He followed up with the extended play Planet Pluto (2023). His debut studio album, Presido La Pluto, released in 2023, was met with commercial success, debuting at number 1 on the TurnTable Top 50. It also debuted atop Apple Music top 100 albums. His second studio album, Shakespopi (2024), was met with continued success as it became Shallipopi's second chart-topping album. Cheers To Life is the second debut extended play by Nigerian singer-songwriter Majeeed. It was released on 7 September 2023 by Dream Empire Music, and EMPIRE. It was described by Daily Times, as a musical expression of gratitude, growth, and positive energy with an organic feel of Afrobeat. The EP is a mixture of Afrofusion, and Afropop, with R&B, and Soul percussive rhythms.
"Gbese" a song by Nigerian singer-songwriter Majeeed and Tiwa Savage, was released on 22 February 2023 by Dream Empire Music, and EMPIRE as the second lead single on his debut extended play Cheers To Life.. The original song was produced by Masterkraft. An EDM version of the song was released as a bonus track on the extended play, and produced by Mystro.
Ugbekile David Osemeke, known professionally as Boy Spyce, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He gained recognition following his 2021 cover of Wizkid's song "Essence". Its success led him to sign a recording contract with Mavin Records, which released his debut extended play, self-titled Boy Spyce, in 2022 to modest commercial success.
"Baddest Boy" is a song by Nigerian singer and songwriter Skiibii, released on 4 November 2021 by More Grace Music. It became a commercial success in Nigeria, and was produced by Runcheck. A remix of the song featuring Davido was released on 21 January 2022 and became a commercial success in the U.K., and America. "Baddest Boy" spent five consecutive weeks at number 1 on TurnTable Top 50, number three on U.K. Official Afrobeats Chart, and at number eleven on Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs.
