The Native (stylized in all caps) is a Nigerian-based music magazine publishing in Lagos. Founded in 2016, The Native focuses primarily on music, style, and art, championing the sounds and culture of tomorrow, today. [1] [2]
The Native was established in 2016 by Seni Saraki, Teni (Teezee) Zaccheaus, Olushola (Sholz) Fagbemi, Addy Edgal and Suleiman Shittu. Since launching, the magazine has featured Nigerian artists including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Naira Marley and fashion designer Mowalola Ogunlesi. [3] [4] Burna Boy was the first artist featured on the magazine in 2017 with The Native's Birth Issue, setting the tone for their future. In 2018, The Native released the second issue of its print magazine. The issue was released at a launch party in London, organised by the magazine and Boiler Room. The event provided a platform for artist to perform such as Lady Donli, Pretty Boy D-O, Wizkid, and Tau Benah, among others. [5] Later that year, The Native collaborated with Nike on limited edition football jersey, Nike by Native. [6] [7]
In 2019, The Native released three covers in its Rebel issue which featured singer and rapper, Cruel Santino, Odunsi The Engine and TENI. Mowalola, Naira Marley and Tems featured on the NATIVE's Time Issue in the summer of 2020. A few months later, in December, the magazine partnered with Wizkid for a limited edition magazine Wizmag that celebrates his album, Made in Lagos . [8] [9]
Nativeland is an annual music concert organised by The Native at Muri Okunola, Victoria Island, Lagos. The first Nativeland concert was held in December 2016, the same day the magazine was launched. [10]
Oluseye Desmond Sodamola, professionally known as Spinall, is a Nigerian disc jockey, record producer, and songwriter. He has released six studio albums and collaborated with artists that have included Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Asake, Joeboy among others. He has won numerous awards for his work, including All Africa Music Awards and The Beatz Awards. He is also the first Nigerian disc jockey to play at festivals such as Coachella, SXSW, and Glastonbury.
Azeez Adeshina Fashola, known professionally as Naira Marley, is a British-Nigerian singer, songwriter and rapper. He is known as the president of his controversial fan base, "Marlians".

Udoma Peter Kelvin Amba popularly known by his trademark It's Kel-P Vibes is a Nigerian record producer, singer and songwriter. Our Homecoming, is an annual three-days music, fashion, sport, and arts festival in Lagos, Nigeria. It has been founded by Grace Ladoja, as a community under Metallic Inc. The platform was established for cultural exchange, sharing African creativity with the world as a way of connecting international creatives from Africa in the diaspora back to the motherland. In 2018, he came into the music scene with a widely acclaimed EP Lagos City Vice, with lead song "China Designer", a remake of Tekno's "Be", which became controversial in September 2019, after Sarz called him out, for his royalty, following the success of the song, reaching 1 million streams in July 2019.
Quddus King well known as GMK, is a Nigerian record producer, sound engineer, rapper, songwriter singer and songwriter. He is best known for producing Bridge's "Needy", and "Searching", Cruel Santino "Gangstar Fear", Lady Donli "Cash", BOJ's "Awolowo", "Bill Up", and "Assignment", and Burna Boy "Different". The Grammy-nominated Best World Music Album African Giant by Burna Boy in 2019, earned him a special recognition from The Recording Academy. He is signed to Warner Chappell Music, and Love Renaissance.

He is best known as a pioneer of alté, and credited for the crossover success of Odumodublvck single "Declan Rice".
On a Spaceship is the second album by Nigerian singer and songwriter Burna Boy. It was released on 16 November 2015 through Spaceship Records and Universal Music Group. The album features guest appearances from Flavour, Kid X, AKA, Wande Coal, Nyanda, Phyno, Da L.E.S, and Wizkid.
