NotJustOk is a Nigerian music download website created in June 2006 by Ademola Ogundele. With over 1.2 million viewers per month, from 183 countries, it is one of the most visited websites in Nigeria. [2]

History

Coined from Seth Godin's book Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable , NotJustOk was started as a personal blog by Ademola Ogundele in 2006. It evolved into a music website after Ademola posted a clip of 9ice's performance at Nelson Mandela's 90th anniversary concert, which rapidly increased the traffic of the website. [3] Currently with few employees, NotJustOk is managed by Ademola Ogundele and Ovie Ofugara. [4]

Overview

Described as "a revolution in Nigerian music" by Isioma Osaje of YNaija , NotJustOk delivers music and music videos from the hip hop and contemporary music genres. [3] It also allows artists to upload their songs to the public through an online platform called "mynotjustok". The website contributed to the sales of popular music albums, including Superstar by Wizkid, The W Experience by Banky W, C.E.O by Da Grin, and M.I.2 by M.I. [5]

NotJustOk was voted the "Best Nigerian Music Website" at the City People Entertainment Awards in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. It was also voted "Blog of The Year" at the 2013 edition of the Nigeria Entertainment Awards. [6]

Panshak Zamani, better known as Ice Prince, is a Nigerian rapper, songwriter and actor. He rose to fame after releasing "Oleku", one of Nigeria's most remixed songs of all time. The discography of Wizkid, a Nigerian Afrobeats recording artist, consists of three studio albums, one compilation album, fifty singles, forty-four promotional singles, sixteen guest appearances, six cameo appearances and thirty-three music videos. Wizkid started his music career at age 11, releasing a seven-track collaborative album with Glorious Five entitled Lil Prinz. Wizkid took the Nigerian music industry by storm when he collaborated with Naeto C, Ikechukwu, M.I and Kel. He signed a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment in 2009. From 2009 through 2011, Wizkid worked on materials for his debut album Superstar, the most highly anticipated Nigerian album of 2011. Superstar was supported by the singles "Love My Baby", "Pakurumo", "Tease Me/Bad Guys", "Don't Dull" and "Holla at Your Boy".

<i>Fire of Zamani</i> 2013 studio album by Ice Prince

Fire of Zamani is the second studio album by Nigerian hip hop recording artist Ice Prince. It was released by Chocolate City on October 28, 2013. The album was executively produced by Audu Maikori, Paul Okeugo, Yahaya Maikori, and Jude Abaga. It was mastered by Sean Stan of Vintage Sounds Production. The album's production was primarily handled by Chopstix, a member of Grip Boiz City, along with additional production from Don Jazzy, Jay Sleek, Sammy Gyang, and E-Kelly. It features guest appearances from Sunny Neji, Wale, M.I, Chip, Ruby Gyang, Wizkid, French Montana, Jesse Jagz, Olamide, Sound Sultan, Burna Boy, Yung L, Jeremiah Gyang, Shaydee, and Morell. The album was supported by four singles—"Aboki", "More", "Gimme Dat", and "I Swear". It was marketed to East Africans by the distribution platform Mdundo.

"Gobe" is a song by Nigerian singer Davido, released on February 25, 2013. It peaked at number 1 on MTV Base's Official Naija Top Ten chart, surpassing Banky W.'s "Yes/No". The song stayed at the top of the music chart for three weeks and was eventually toppled by Kcee's "Limpopo".

Clarence Peters Nigerian music video director

Clarence Peters is a Nigerian music video director, filmmaker and cinematographer. He is the founder and CEO of Capital Dream Pictures, a production company that specialises in the realms of the performing arts, film and video. He is also the founder and CEO of Capital Hill Records, a record label home to Chidinma, Tha Suspect and Illbliss. He was ranked 2nd on Channel O's list of the Top 10 Most Visionary Music Video Directors. In 1998, he was involved in a Mobil-sponsored music video for a documentary on AIDS. He directed 40 episodes of the TV series Everyday People. Peters has directed music videos for recording artists across an array of genres and generations, including Darey, Durella, and Wizkid. In 2012, he shot the music video for Shuga's theme song, which was recorded by Boneye from P-Unit, Banky W., Wizkid and L-Tido. Peters has also shot a good number of documentaries, TV commercials, short films, and TV features. In April 2014, Absolut Vodka honoured him for his creativity.

The Chairman is the third studio album by Nigerian hip hop recording artist M.I. It was released on October 30, 2014, by Chocolate City and Loopy Music. The album features collaborations with producers and guest artists such as 2face Idibia, Wizkid, Seyi Shay, Ice Prince, Olamide, Phyno, Reminisce, Oritse Femi, Patoranking, Reinhard, Runtown, Sarkodie, Nosa, Beenie Man, Koker, Moti Cakes, Wilson Alao, Sound Sultan, Emmy Ace, Sammy Gyang, Chigul, Milli, Frank Edwards, Nanya, G-Plus, Morell, Loose Kaynon, Pheelz, Debbie, DJ Lambo, Sarz, Stormrex, L-37, VSTOL and I.J. The album's production began in 2012 and continued through the third quarter of 2014. M.I worked with several collaborators while enlisting new producers. Much of The Chairman tells the story of the rapper's journey into limelight. According to M.I's team, the album sold 30,000 copies in pre-order sales. The Chairman was supported by three singles: "Bad Belle", "Monkey" and "Bullion Van".

Morihanfen Oluwaseun Oluwabamidele, popularly known as Sean Tizzle, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He was formally signed to Sound Sultan's record label Naija Ninjas. Sodamola Oluseye Desmond, professionally known as DJ Spinall, is a Nigerian Disc Jockey, Record Producer, songwriter, Label Executive, and Media personality. He first gained prominence in 2004, while working as a radio DJ at Raypower 100.5 FM. He later joined Industry Nite where he promoted underground talents at the weekly platform. He was the official DJ to Wande Coal while he was affiliated with Mavin Records. DJ Spinall created a style edge to his outfit known as TheCAP, tracing his roots back to his culture. TheCAP, which fans tags as "TheCrazyAzzParty" has since then been his brand power and identity.

Ekenedilichukwu Ijemba, better known by his stage name Humblesmith, is a Nigerian afropop recording artist who achieved recognition upon the release of his single titled "Osinachi". In 2019 he got featured by Umuobiligbo on a track Tittled Nwalie which later won a nomination spot at the 2016 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. He first ventured into the entertainment business as an actor, starring in a number of films including Hypertension (2010) with Sam Loco Efe. Currently signed to N-tyze Entertainment, he made the list of "10 Artists To Watch in 2016" by notJustOk.

<i>Merchants, Dealers & Slaves</i> 2013 studio album by Brymo

Merchants, Dealers & Slaves is the third studio album by Nigerian singer Brymo. It was made available for purchase as a digital download on October 20, 2013, and was released six days after Chocolate City filed an interim injunction against Brymo. The album was produced entirely by Mikky Me and features guitar work from David. It was supported by the singles "Down" and "Eko". Physical copies of the album were not allowed to circulate as a result of the aforementioned injunction. The album's physical release was issued on March 26, 2014, a few days after the injunction was lifted.

Ada Ehi

Ada Ogochukwu Ehi, simply known by her stage name Ada Ehi, is a Nigerian-born international gospel singer-songwriter, recording and performing artist. She started her musical career at the age of 10 as a backup singer for child star, Tosin Jegede. Since she professionally started her music career under Loveworld Records in 2009, she has increasingly gained local and international popularity through her songs and music videos.

Zlatan (musician) Nigerian musician

Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, known professionally as Zlatan, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and dancer. In 2014, he won the Airtel-sponsored One Mic talent show held in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Towards the end of 2018, Zlatan released a single titled "Zanku", with a new dance routine of the same name. On 3 November 2019, he released his debut studio album Zanku, an acronym for Zlatan Abeg No Kill Us.
