Drew Patrick Allar (born March 8, 2004) is an American college football quarterback for the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Allar grew up in Medina, Ohio and attended Medina High School. [1] He became Medina's starting quarterback as a sophomore and passed for 1,802 yards and 23 touchdowns. [2] Allar passed for 2,962 yards with 26 touchdowns during his junior season. [3] As a senior, he completed 305 of 509 pass attempts (59.9%) for 4,444 yards and 48 touchdowns with seven interceptions and also rushed for 406 yards and nine touchdowns. [4] Following the end of the season Allar was named Ohio Mr. Football. [5] Over the course of his high school career Allar completed 630 of 1,149 pass attempts for 9,103 yards and 98 touchdowns with 20 interceptions. [6]
Allar was initially rated a three-star recruit and committed to Penn State. [7] After committing, he was later re-rated to a four-star recruit by most recruiting services and later as a five-star prospect by 247Sports . [8]
Allar joined the Penn State Nittany Lions as an early enrollee in January 2022. [9] [10] He was named the Nittany Lions' backup quarterback entering the 2022 season opener. [11] Allar made his college debut in the season opener against Purdue, completing two passes on four attempts for 26 yards when starter Sean Clifford left the game due to an apparent knee injury. [12] He played in nine games, all coming off of the bench, during his freshman season and completed 35 of 60 pass attempts for 344 yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 52 yards and one touchdown. Kevin Leonardo Newsome, Jr. is a former American college football quarterback from Portsmouth, Virginia who played for the Penn State Nittany Lions football team from 2009 to 2011, and for the Temple Owls football team in 2012.
Robert Craig Bolden, Jr. is a former American football quarterback. After attending St. Mary's Preparatory School in Orchard Lake, Michigan, he played college football for the Penn State Nittany Lions from 2010 to 2011. He transferred to Louisiana State University and was a member of the LSU football team from 2012 to 2013. Bolden transferred again and finished his college football career as a member of the 2014 Eastern Michigan Eagles football team.
Matthew James McGloin is an American former professional football quarterback who played for the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He was the starting quarterback for the Penn State Nittany Lions football team from 2010 to 2012. McGloin was the first walk-on quarterback to start at Penn State since scholarships were reinstated in 1949.
The 2012 Penn State Nittany Lions football team represented the Pennsylvania State University in the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was coached by Bill O'Brien in his first season and played its home games in Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pennsylvania, US. It was a member of the Big Ten Conference and played in the Leaders Division. Penn State was ineligible to play in a bowl game for the 2012 season due to sanctions imposed in wake of the Penn State child sex abuse scandal.
Shea Christopher Patterson is an American professional football quarterback for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football for the Ole Miss Rebels (2016–2017) and the Michigan Wolverines (2018–2019). He was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2020.
