Andrew "Drew" Curtis is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Home and Away , played by Bobby Morley. He made his first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 7 July 2006. He departed on 21 March 2008.
While he was appearing in a production of Angels with Dirty Faces, Morley was spotted by the Home and Away casting agents who asked him to come in and have a chat. [1] The chance to audition for Drew came up and Morley was cast in the role, despite being older than the character. [2] [3] Morley relocated from Melbourne to Sydney for the show and he admitted that he was quite nervous during his first six weeks on set and that he had to get used to the fast speed at which they shoot scenes. [1] [2]
Morley quit Home and Away at the end of 2007. [4] Of his reason for leaving, Morley said "It wasn't a good place to be in. Home and Away is a great place to learn, but it's a machine and it can chew people up and spit them out. I stepped out not really caring whether I had another job." [5] Morley told The Daily Telegraph that he often had to take his shirt off for scenes and that he was treated like a "meat puppet" on the show. [6]
Morley told The Age that Drew is "very strong-willed and stubborn and headstrong", which was similar to how he was when he was seventeen. [1] Drew is also quite defensive and independent. [1] Morley added "I do remember what I was like when I was younger and I thought that I knew everything and it's quite easy to go back to that mentality when I'm playing Drew." [1] The official Home and Away website described Drew as "brooding" and having a "chip on his shoulder the size of Queensland." [7] Drew is cocky, tough and a bit of a loner. [7] Despite giving off the impression that he does not need anyone, Drew desperately wants love and acceptance. [7] An Inside Soap writer branded him "a new bad boy" for the show and said he would cause trouble upon his arrival. [8]
Drew ruins his relationship with Belle Taylor (Jessica Tovey) when he has an affair with her mother Amanda Vale (Holly Brisley). [9] Morley told Inside Soap that the storyline was uncomfortable for both himself and Brisley. [10] He said, "It was such an intense storyline, and Holly and I put a lot of work into figuring out how to play the scenes." [10] Morley explained that it was a hard thing to motivate why Amanda would have sex with her daughter's boyfriend and why Drew would go along with it all. [10] Tovey said Belle was left "angry and humiliated", when she discovered the reason Drew ended their relationship. [9] She added that though Drew felt terrible about his actions, Belle was unable to forgive his deceit because "she thinks he and Amanda are as bad as each other." [9]
Drew comes to Summer Bay when he learns of his father Peter Baker's (Nicholas Bishop) death. He leaves boarding school to attend the memorial. His uncle, Dan Baker (Tim Campbell) is surprised, but allows Drew to stay with him and his partner Leah Patterson-Baker (Ada Nicodemou). Drew develops feelings for Belle. Although Dan is against this, Drew and Belle begin dating. But Drew breaks up with Belle after he falls for her mother, Amanda. Although, after her relationship with Lucas Holden (Rhys Wakefield), Drew and Belle are reunited as a couple. Drew briefly breaks up with Belle again when he discovers that she knew about Amanda's affair with Peter.
After all the events that have occurred, Drew decides to leave Summer Bay. On his way out of town, a masked man drags Drew out of his car and drives him to an abandoned building. The mystery captor is his father, Peter. The mystery of Peter's fake death is revealed during the kidnapping. He explains to Drew that he was in witness protection from Dennis Gillen (Danny Adcock) and Drew decides that he wanted to get to know his father. When Dennis and his men show up at the building, Peter tells Drew to run and get help, but Drew hears a gunshot and he breaks down crying. But Peter is not dead and Drew's relationship with his father grows.
Drew breaks up with Belle and decides to leave Summer Bay and go to the city. Jazz Curtis (Rachel Gordon), Drew's mother, who arrived to buy Amanda's house, and Ric Dalby (Mark Furze) go to the city to persuade him to come back, but fail. He lives with Amanda and Peter in the city.
For his portrayal of Drew, Morley was nominated for the Logie Award for Most Popular New Male Talent in 2007. [11] Scott Ellis of The Sun-Herald branded Drew a "teenage tearaway." [3] While Paul Kalina of The Age called him a "bad-boy heart-throb." [4]
Jack Anthony Holden is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Home and Away, played by Paul O'Brien. He made his first on-screen appearance on 5 August 2005. Jack was a police officer. The Holden family — Jack, his father Tony and his brother Lucas arrived in Summer Bay in 2005. In November 2008, the season finale, Jack was accidentally shot in the chest at a construction site by fellow police officer, Angelo Rosetta. In the first episode of the 2009 season, it was revealed that Jack had died after paramedics failed to revive him at the scene. Paul O'Brien decided to leave the series in 2008 and Jack made his last appearance in the second episode into 2009.
Lucas Holden is a fictional character from the Australian television soap opera Home and Away, played by Rhys Wakefield. The character made his first screen appearance on 5 August 2005. Lucas was the youngest member of Holden family. Wakefield left the show in 2008.
Belle Taylor is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Home and Away, played by Jessica Tovey. She made her first appearance during the episode broadcast on 3 February 2006. Belle's storylines included finding her birth mother, a drug addiction, her relationship with Aden Jefferies and being diagnosed with cancer. In 2009, it was announced that Tovey had quit the show and the writers decided to kill off the character. Belle made her last appearance on 11 August 2009.
Johnny Cooper is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Home and Away, played by Callan Mulvey. He made his first on-screen appearance on 19 October 2006.
Amanda Baker is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Home and Away, played by Holly Brisley. She made her first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 30 June 2005 and departed in 2007. Brisley later reprised the role for brief guest appearances in 2008 and 2009.
Leah Patterson is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Home and Away, played by Ada Nicodemou. She made her screen debut during the episode broadcast on 22 March 2000. Leah is one of the longest featured characters in the serial's history and has been involved in storylines including the deaths of her husbands, her many relationships, surrogacy, suffering anxiety and the victim of racism. Nicodemou took a temporary break from Home and Away in late 2012, following the birth of her first child. She returned from her break on 19 June 2013.

Morag Buckton QC is a fictional character from the Australian Channel Seven soap opera Home and Away, played by Cornelia Frances. She debuted on-screen during the episode airing on 7 June 1988. She appeared until 1989 and briefly appeared in 1993. She returned yearly from 2001 until 2009, again from 2011 to 2013 and again from 2016 to 2017. Danielle "Dani" Sutherland is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Home and Away, played by Tammin Sursok. The actress successfully auditioned for the role of Dani in 1999 and she called the experience incredible. Sursok considered herself lucky to get the part, as the audition was the first one she had had since acquiring an agent. She made her first screen appearance as Dani during the episode broadcast on 19 June 2000. After four years in the role, Sursok made the decision to leave Home and Away in 2004 to pursue a music career and other acting opportunities and as a result Dani departed the series on 12 November 2004. She later explained that she had also become frustrated with the serial's producers. Sursok was glad that her character was written out of the show without anything bad happening to her.
Aden Jefferies is a fictional character from the Australian Channel Seven soap opera Home and Away, played by Todd Lasance. He debuted on-screen during the episode airing on 4 August 2005. Aden was introduced in 2005 as a recurring character and as part of Cassie Turner's storylines. Lasance was offered the role after previously auditioning for a separate character. In 2007, Lasance was asked to return on another guest contract, though was promoted to the regular cast soon after.
Eric "Ric" Dalby is a fictional character from the Australian Channel Seven soap opera Home and Away, played by Mark Furze. He appeared in the series from 15 September 2004 until 24 July 2008. Furze was cast into the role after an audition and a screen test impressed producers. Furze said he was attracted to the role because of Ric's characterisation. Ric was initially portrayed as a bully of vulnerable people and held no respect for authority. Through his storylines, Ric transforms into one of the serial's "good guys" but his violent temper remained. Both Furze and interested media noted that Ric getting involved in fights became a dominant feature throughout his tenure.
Geoffrey "Geoff" Campbell is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Home and Away, played by Lincoln Lewis. The actor spent two years auditioning for a role on the show, before he was offered the part of Geoff. He was surprised to get the part as he thought his audition had not been very good. Lewis relocated to Sydney for filming and he cut his long hair for the character. His casting was announced on 17 June 2007, while he made his first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 20 June 2007. After two years on the show, Lewis quit Home and Away and filmed his final scenes on 18 September 2009. The character made his screen exit on 12 February 2010.
Ciaran McCarthy is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera Coronation Street, portrayed by Keith Duffy. He made his first on-screen appearance on 7 August 2002, before departing in 2005. He returned in 2010 until Duffy temporary departed in January 2011 to go on Boyzone Tour, and returned on 3 November 2011. Duffy departed the role again on 25 November 2011 due to family commitments although he stated his intention to eventually return as Ciaran. In his duration on the show the character has been at the centre of several romances including relationships with Sunita Alahan, Tracy Barlow and Michelle Connor. Ciaran has been characterised as a ladies' man and a charmer. The character is also known for his "sex symbol" status. Duffy has received nominations at various soap award ceremonies for his portrayal of Ciaran.
Daniel David "Dan" Baker is a fictional character from the Australian Channel Seven soap opera Home and Away, played by Tim Campbell. The actor has appeared in the series prior to taking the regular role of Dan in 2004. Dan is characterised as a "likeable, committed and passionate" man. He grew up in a small rural town and developed a liking for nature. Dan is a school councilor and many of his storylines involve his family unit. Dan's most prominent relationship is shared with Leah Patterson-Baker. But their relationship is tested following the introduction of Dan's ex-wife Amanda Vale. She claims that Dan used to hit her and even attempts to sabotage his wedding. He is the brother of Peter a police officer whose occupation endangers Dan's life. He also has to deal with a gambling addiction, which Campbell carried out research to portray.
Vincent Alexandros "VJ" Patterson, Jr. is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Home and Away. VJ has been portrayed by various child actors since his introduction. Felix Dean played the role from 2007 until it was recast in 2014, and Matthew Little took over. VJ made his first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 30 November 2001. He departed on 23 November 2017. He made a final appearance over video footage on 5 February 2018.
