Drew Nieporent is an American restaurateur based in New York City. His company Myriad Restaurant Group owns and operates numerous restaurants. Nieporent's Nobu and Nobu London both earned two Michelin stars.
Nieporent's first restaurant, Montrachet (1985), earned three stars from The New York Times and kept that rating for 19 years. [1] In 2008, the restaurant reopened as Corton, reinstating its three-star New York Times status and receiving an unprecedented two Michelin stars with chef-partner Paul Liebrandt at the helm. [2]
In 1994, again with partner Robert De Niro and sushi master Nobu Matsuhisa, Drew launched Nobu, which would earn worldwide acclaim. Nobu NYC, [3] Next Door Nobu, [4] and Nobu Fifty Seven [5] have all earned the three-star rating from The New York Times. Nobu NYC was voted Best Restaurant in America by The James Beard Foundation. [6] Nobu has gone on to open restaurants all over the world. [7]
In 2002, Tribeca Grill joined Rubicon and Montrachet (previous award-earners) on the exclusive list. [8] In 2005, Myriad opened Crush Wine & Spirits, which was named the best new wine shop by Food & Wine Magazine, and made Food & Wine's 2017 list of The World's Best Wine Shops. [9]
Bâtard won the 2014 James Beard Foundation Award for Best New Restaurant. [10] Bâtard closed in 2023. [11]
Peter Luger Steak House is a steakhouse located in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, New York City, with a second location in Great Neck, New York, on Long Island. It was named to the James Beard Foundation's list of "America's Classics" in 2002 and is the third oldest operating steakhouse in New York City, after Keens and Old Homestead Steakhouse. On January 10 2022, Peter Luger's and Caesar's Palace announced the opening of a third location in Caesar's Palace Las Vegas, in the location formerly occupied by Rao's.
Le Cirque was a French restaurant that has had several locations throughout the New York City borough of Manhattan for more than forty years. It is currently closed, with its future status unknown.
Jean-Georges is a two-Michelin-star restaurant at 1 Central Park West, on the lobby level of the Trump International Hotel and Tower, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City, named after its owner Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
Le Bernardin is a three-Michelin star French seafood restaurant in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. Eric Ripert is the executive chef, and he is co-owner along with Maguy Le Coze.
David Chang is an American restaurateur, author, podcaster, and television personality. He is the founder of the Momofuku restaurant group. In 2009, Momofuku Ko was awarded two Michelin stars, which the restaurant has retained each year since. In 2011, he co-founded the influential food magazine Lucky Peach, which lasted for 25 quarterly volumes into 2017. In 2018, Chang created, produced, and starred in a Netflix original series called Ugly Delicious, and through his Majordomo Media group, he has produced and/or starred in more television and podcasts. On November 29, 2020, he became the first celebrity to win the $1,000,000 top prize for his charity, Southern Smoke Foundation, and the fourteenth overall million dollar winner on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
The James Beard Foundation Awards are annual awards presented by the James Beard Foundation to recognize chefs, restaurateurs, authors and journalists in the United States. They are scheduled around James Beard's May 5 birthday. The media awards are presented at a dinner in New York City; the chef and restaurant awards were also presented in New York until 2015, when the foundation's annual gala moved to Chicago. Chicago will continue to host the Awards until 2027.
Scott Conant is an American celebrity chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author. Since 2009, Conant has been a judge on the reality cooking television series Chopped. He has published four cookbooks.
David Bouley was an American and French chef. He was a sole owner and chef of restaurants in Tribeca, New York City, best known for his flagship restaurant, Bouley.
Charlie Palmer is an American chef, hospitality entrepreneur, hotelier, and author. He is best known for Aureole, his flagship restaurant in New York City, which has earned 13 Michelin stars and two James Beard awards. Considered a “pioneer of progressive American cooking,” Palmer has received over 20 Michelin stars and consults 15 F&B outlets through the Charlie Palmer Collective.
A Matter of Taste: Serving Up Paul Liebrandt is a documentary that follows the career of chef Paul Liebrandt over the course of a decade in New York City. Directed by Sally Rowe, it premiered on HBO on June 13, 2011.
Marea is an Italian and seafood restaurant at 240 Central Park South, on Columbus Circle in Manhattan, New York City, opened in May 2009.

Fabio Trabocchi is an Italian chef and restaurateur based in Washington, D.C., where his restaurant Fiola earned a Michelin Star. Before opening his own restaurants, Trabocchi ran kitchens in London, Virginia, and New York, winning a James Beard Foundation Award in 2006.
State Bird Provisions is a San Francisco restaurant founded by chef-owners Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski.
Bâtard was a French restaurant in New York City. The restaurant opened in 2014, replacing French restaurant Corton. In May 2023, it was announced Bâtard would close on May 20, 2023.
Montrachet was a French restaurant in Tribeca opened in April 1985 and Drew Nieporent’s first restaurant. It closed in the summer of 2006. Within seven weeks of opening, the New York Times gave it a three star rating which it kept for 21 years.
