Duan Asemota (born 29 August 1996 in Montreal) is a Canadian sprinter who specializes in the 100 meters. [1] Raised in Ajax, Ontario, [1] he was named to the Canadian Olympic Team in 2024, in both the 100 meters and 4x100m relay. He finished 4th at the 2024 Canadian Olympic Trials in the 100m. An All- American at The Ohio State University in the 4 × 100 m relay, Asemota also finished 4th at the 2019 World University Games in the 100 meters. He was named to the 4x100 team for the 2023 World Athletics Championships after finishing fifth in the 100 metres event at the Canadian Track and Field Championships a month prior. [2]

Career

Asemota competed for Ohio State University in the United States. In 2018, he finished 2nd in the Big East championships in the 100 metres. In July 2024, Asemota was named to Canada's 2024 Olympic team. [3] [4] [5]

Helena Ponette is a Belgian sprinter specialising in the 400 metres. She competed at the 2024 Summer Olympics as a 400 metres runner and as a member of the Belgian women's 4x400 metres and mixed 4x400 metres relay teams. She also participated at multiple World and European Athletics championships, indoor and outdoor, individually and as a member of the 4x400 metres relay teams. She was national champion in the women's 400 metres in 2023.
