Ducktown is an unincorporated community in Forsyth County, in the U.S. state of Georgia. [1]

History

The name may be a transfer from Ducktown, Tennessee. [2] A post office called Ducktown was established in 1899, and remained in operation until 1903. [3] The Georgia General Assembly incorporated the place in 1912 as the "Town of Ducktown". [4] The town's municipal charter was dissolved in 1995. [2]

The mine's remaining structures are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Burra Burra Mine Historic District. The site is also home to the Ducktown Basin Museum, and the museum and mine are a Tennessee State Historic Site operated in partnership with the Tennessee Historical Commission.
