Duncan Township was a civil township in Cheboygan County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It was created on January 29, 1853, [1] and organized on August 23, 1854. [2] As the second township in the county, it consisted of all parts east of the Cheboygan River. [3] Portions of this township were later incorporated into Benton Township in 1871, and Grant Township in 1879. The remnants of Duncan Township were combined with and incorporated into Benton Township on March 7, 1887. [4]

The Round Valley Settler Massacres of 1856–1859 were a series of massacres committed by early white settlers of California with cooperation and funding from the government of California and the support of prominent Californians against the Yuki people of Round Valley, Mendocino County, California. More than 1,000 Yuki are estimated to have been killed; many others were enslaved and only 300 survived. The intent of the massacres was to exterminate the Yuki and gain control of the land they inhabited. U.S. Army soldiers deployed to the valley stopped most of the killings and in 1862 the California legislature revoked a law which permitted the kidnapping and enslavement of Native Americans in the state.
Hampton L. Jarnagin was a lawyer, judge, and state legislator in Mississippi. He was born in Eastern Tennessee. Spencer Jarnagin was his brother.
Cusino Township was a civil township in Schoolcraft County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It was first established on March 7, 1907. It was combined with and incorporated into Hiawatha Township on April 16, 1913.
Holmes Township was a civil township in Mackinac County in the U.S. state of Michigan. Organized on April 12, 1827, Holmes included parts of Michigan's upper and lower peninsulas within the original county of Michilimackinac. The county and township both became smaller over time, until 1895 when Holmes consisted of only Mackinac Island and Round Island. Holmes was incorporated into the City of Mackinac Island effective March 20, 1900.
Wyandot County was a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. It was created on April 1, 1840 from part of Michilimackinac County. Wyandot became part of Cheboygan County when it organized on January 29, 1853.
