Dungannon Thomas Clarkes (in Irish 'Dún Geanainn Thomáis Uí Cleirigh') is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the town of Dungannon in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. [1] They play at O'Neill Park in Dungannon, which is also the second home of Tyrone G.A.A.

History

Dungannon Thomas Clarkes GFC (Cumann Thomáis Uí Chléirigh Dún Geanainn) was formed in 1917 and is named after one of the executed leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising, Thomas J Clarke, who spent his formative years living in Dungannon. The club colours are green, white and yellow.

O'Neill Park has been the home of the Clarkes since 1947. It was the first GAA owned pitch in Tyrone and represented at the time a growing confidence in the GAA in its ability to develop and organise Gaelic games. A new pavilion was opened in 1967 and was destroyed in a bomb attack on the club in 1971. the existing clubrooms were completed in 1981 and replace the bombed building. The spectator stand was added to the club facilities on the site of the old clubrooms in the late 1980s. Recent development work has made further improvements to the ground which is still regarded by many as the best venue in Tyrone for atmosphere at a big game.

A club whose sons such as Iggy Jones, Gerald Cavlan, Audi Hamilton, Danny Barr and Brendan Mallon have all won Ulster senior championship medals with Tyrone. Gerald Cavlan, Paul Donaghy and Oran Mallon are the only three players in the club's history to win the All Ireland Senior inter county football championship with Tyrone, Cavlan in 2003 whilst Donaghy and Mallon in 2021.

Dungannon have always been well known for having strong industrial development teams winning plenty of Grade 1 and Grade 2 trophies at Youth Level notably the U-14 Double with a lot of them lads pushing into the senior team between 2021 and 2024.

Sarsfields were one of 16 teams which contested the Dublin Senior Championship in 1887. They were also involved in the Senior Championship of 1892, and the club has fielded Gaelic football, hurling and camogie teams ever since.

Michael Davitt's GAC Swatragh is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Swatragh, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The club is a member of the Derry GAA and currently caters for Gaelic football, hurling and camogie. The club is named after republican patriot and revolutionary Michael Davitt.

He also had a distinguished underage career with the county - winning Ulster Minor, Ulster Under 21 and All-Ireland Under 21 Football Championship medals.

The Tyrone county football team represents Tyrone GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association, in the Gaelic sport of football. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Ulster Senior Football Championship and the National Football League.

The 2021 Tyrone Senior Football Championship was the 116th edition of Tyrone GAA's premier Gaelic football tournament for senior clubs in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The championship consisted of 18 teams and had a straight knock-out format. The winners receive the O'Neill Cup and represent Tyrone in the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship. The draw for the championship was made on 15 July 2021.

The Tyrone All-County Senior Football Leagues are annual Gaelic football competitions consisting of 3 tiers contested by Tyrone GAA clubs. Currenty the 3 tiers are Division 1 (Senior), Division 2 (Intermediate) and Division 3 (Junior). The Tyrone County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association has organised these competitions since 1969. All-County Reserve Football Leagues are also held each season.
