Daniel Dunklin was the fifth Governor of Missouri, serving from 1832 to 1836. He also served as the state's third Lieutenant Governor. Dunklin is considered the "Father of Public Schools" in Missouri. Dunklin was also the father-in-law of Missouri Lieutenant Governor Franklin Cannon. Dunklin County, in the Missouri bootheel, is named so in his honor.

Gobler is an unincorporated community on the border between Dunklin and Pemiscot counties in the U.S. state of Missouri. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Gov. Daniel Dunklin's Grave State Historic Site</span> Historic cemetery in Herculaneum, Missouri, USA

Gov. Daniel Dunklin's Grave is a Missouri state park at Herculaneum, Missouri, preserving the gravesite of Daniel Dunklin, who was governor of Missouri during the mid-1830s. Dunklin died in 1844 and was buried on his family estate, but was reinterred in 1885 when most of the estate he was buried on was sold. In 1965, the state of Missouri took control of the site to serve as a memorial to Dunklin, who is credited as the father of Missouri's public education system. The site covers 1.37 acres (0.55 ha) and is operated by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. The cemetery is surrounded by limestone walls and overlooks the Mississippi River.

Herculaneum High School is a public high school in the Dunklin R-V School District in Herculaneum, Missouri, in Greater St. Louis.

Festus High School is a public high school in Festus, Missouri. It is a part of the Festus R-VI School District. It is the only high school in the school district. The school has 1,011 students. In 2018, the school earned a bronze medal for academic achievement due to a higher proficiency in reading and math in comparison to the state's average.
