E-One Fire Trucks Inc is an emergency services manufacturer and marketer based in Ocala, Florida.

History

Founded in 1974 as Emergency-One, E-One has a staff of roughly 900 in four plants in the United States.

E-One was acquired by Federal Signal Corporation, a diversified, billion-dollar Oak Brook, Ill., enterprise in 1979. In 1992, Federal Signal purchased Canadian fire apparatus builder Superior Emergency Equipment and in 1998 bought Saulsbury Fire Equipment of Preble, New York. E-One has sold more than 25,000 vehicles worldwide. In 2004, E-One announced the closure of the Saulsbury plant. Superior Emergency Equipment was renamed E-One Canada in 2003, then the plant was closed and all operations were move to Ocala, FL in 2006.

E-One was put up for sale on March 1, 2008 by its parent company, Federal Signal Corporation. On August 5, 2008 American Industrial Partners Capital Fund IV, L.P. (AIP) announced the purchase of E-One, and in 2010 combined with Fleetwood Enterprises, Collins Industries and Halcore Group to form Allied Specialty Vehicles. [1] Allied Specialty Vehicles changed its name to REV Group on November 1, 2015.

Customers include some of the largest cities in the US, including the fire departments in Boston, Chicago and formerly New York City.

Custom Chassis

E-One produces many of their vehicles with custom cabs branded as the Cyclone II, Typhoon and Quest. The Quest cab debuted in April 2007 at the Fire Department Instructor's Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. A new Typhoon cab was released at FDIC 2019. [2]

A fire engine is a road vehicle that functions as a firefighting apparatus. The primary purposes of a fire engine include transporting firefighters and water to an incident as well as carrying equipment for firefighting operations. Some fire engines have specialized functions, such as wildfire suppression and aircraft rescue and firefighting, and may also carry equipment for technical rescue.

Freightliner Trucks is an American truck manufacturer. Founded in 1929 as the truck-manufacturing division of Consolidated Freightways, the company was established in 1942 as Freightliner Corporation. Owned by Daimler AG since 1981, Freightliner is a part of Daimler subsidiary Daimler Trucks North America.

Chevrolet S-10 Motor vehicle

The Chevrolet S-10 is a compact pickup truck that was produced by Chevrolet. It was the first domestically built compact pickup of the big three American automakers. When it was first introduced as a "quarter-ton pickup" in 1981 for the 1982 model year, the GMC version was known as the S-15 and later renamed the GMC Sonoma. A high-performance version was released in 1991 and given the name of GMC Syclone. The pickup was also sold by Isuzu as the Hombre from 1996 through 2000, but only in North America. There was also an SUV version, the Chevrolet S-10 Blazer/GMC S-15 Jimmy. An electric version was leased as a fleet vehicle in 1997 and 1998. Together, these pickups are often referred to as the S-series.

Tatra 815 Motor vehicle

The Tatra 815 is a truck family, produced by Czech company Tatra. It uses the traditional tatra concept of rigid backbone tube and swinging half-axles giving independent suspension. The vehicles are available in 4x4, 6x6, 8x8, 10x8, 10x10, 12x8 and 12x12 variants. There are both air-cooled and liquid-cooled engines available with power ranging from 230–440 kilowatts (310–590 hp). As a successor to Tatra 813 it was originally designed for extreme off-road conditions, while nowadays there are also variants designated for mixed use.

Sterling Trucks Corporation was an American truck manufacturer. Founded in 1998, Sterling was created following the 1997 acquisition of the heavy-truck product lines of Ford Motor Company by Freightliner. Taking its nameplate from a long-defunct truck manufacturer, Sterling was slotted between Freightliner and Western Star within the Daimler product range.

Pierce Manufacturing is an American, Appleton, Wisconsin-based manufacturer of custom fire and rescue apparatus and a wholly owned subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation. Pierce was acquired by Oshkosh in 1996 and is currently the largest fire apparatus company in the world. The company was founded in 1913 by Humphrey Pierce and his son Dudley as the Pierce Auto Body Works Inc., and concentrated on building custom truck bodies for the Ford Model T. The first production facility was designed in 1917 and enlarged in 1918 by architect Wallace W. DeLong. From the 1960s to the early 1980s, Pierce was primarily known for building custom bodies on commercial and other manufacturer's custom chassis, and was considered an original equipment manufacturer (OEM).

Introduced in 1998 for the 1999 model year, the F-Series Super Duty trucks marked the addition of a heavy-duty pickup to the Ford F-Series range with the new versions of the F-250, F-350, and F-450 trucks, while the previous 1987–1997 F-Super Duty chassis cabs were replaced by the F-450 chassis cab and F-550 Super Duty.

American LaFrance Defunct American firetruck manufacturer

American LaFrance (ALF) was an American vehicle manufacturer which focused primarily on the production of fire engines, fire aerials, and emergency apparatus such as ambulance and rescue vehicles. Originally located in Elmira Heights New York, the final iteration of the company was located in Summerville, South Carolina. It also operated a Canadian plant in Toronto, Ontario, where it sold apparatus under the name LaFrance-Foamite, until 1971.

Fire services in the York Region of Canada are provided for and by each municipality. There are 35 fire stations across the region. Most services consist of full-time members, but some services have volunteer firefighters.

Seagrave Fire Apparatus

Seagrave Fire Apparatus LLC is a fire apparatus manufacturer in the United States that specializes in pumper and rescue units, as well as aerial towers. In addition to manufacturing new equipment, they refurbish, repair and upgrade older Seagrave apparatus, including National Fire Protection Association updates to equipment. Seagrave operates manufacturing facilities in Clintonville, Wisconsin, and Rock Hill, South Carolina, and is an authorized General Services Administration vendor and supplies the federal government of the United States with firefighting equipment.

Ferrara Fire Apparatus is an American manufacturer of heavy-duty emergency service equipment. The firm is based in Holden, Louisiana, and was founded by Chris Ferrara.

The Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal (SIM) is responsible for fire and rescue operations in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. EMS first-response has been available in limited areas since 1976 and to the entire service area since 2009. The SIM is the 7th largest fire department in North America. The department offers high-angle rescue, collapse rescue, hazmat response, ice rescue and nautical rescue.

Sutphen

Sutphen is an emergency services vehicle manufacturer and marketer based in Amlin, Ohio. Sutphen was founded in 1890 by C.H. Sutphen. The company has four manufacturing plants in Dublin, Amlin, Hilliard, Springfield Ohio and Lake Ariel, PA.

The New Haven Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the city of New Haven, Connecticut. The New Haven Fire Department currently serves a population of over 130,000 people living in 19 square miles of land and is one of the largest fire departments in the state.

Freightliner FS-65 Motor vehicle platform

The Freightliner FS-65 is a cowled bus chassis that was manufactured by Freightliner from 1997 to 2007. Derived from the Freightliner FL-Series medium-duty trucks, the FS-65 was produced primarily for school bus applications, though commercial-use buses and cutaway-cab buses were also built using the FS-65 chassis.

The fire departments of Morris County, New Jersey are primarily volunteer services. The Morristown, Dover, Morris Township, Madison, Cedar Knolls, Whippany and Picatinny Arsenal fire departments are the only paid department in the county. Many departments are switching to the Morris County dispatch center.

Freightliner Business Class M2 Motor vehicle

The Freightliner Business Class M2 is a model range of medium-duty trucks produced by Freightliner. In production since June 2002, the M2 is the successor to the FL-Series introduced in the 1990s. In terms of size, the M2 is produced in Class 5 through Class 8 GVWR ratings, competing primarily against the International Durastar and the Ford F-650/F-750 Super Duty.

6-ton 6×6 truck Type of 6-ton 6x6 truck

The 6-ton 6×6 truck was a family of heavy tactical trucks built for the United States Army during World War II. The basic cargo version was designed to transport a 6-ton (5,400 kg) cargo load over all terrain in all weather. The chassis were built by Brockway Motor Company, The Corbitt Company, The Four Wheel Drive Auto Company (FWD), Ward LaFrance Truck Corporation, and White Motor Company. They were replaced by the M39 series 5-ton 6x6 trucks in the 1950s.

John Morris & Sons Limited of Cross Lane, Salford, Manchester, Lancashire, were manufacturers of all kinds of fire fighting equipment from fire engines, manual then motorised, fire retardant foams, and electrical fire alarms, down to firemen's axes and fire buckets.
