EDP Watch is an independent organization and internet series based in the United States founded by internet personality JiDion under the leadership of Alex Rosen that conducts sting operations targeting alleged child predators. The group uses online "decoys" posing as minors to arrange meetings with suspects, in which they record confrontations and alert police to intervene. [2] [3] [4] [5]
The group's activities have led to multiple arrests across Oregon, Virginia, Illinois and other states. [6] [7]
The group was linked to the arrest of several men in Oregon, including parole violator Charles Mellick, and others charged with online sexual corruption of a child. [3] According to JiDion the group has arrests in 18/50 states in America. [8]
In 2024, the organization assisted Virginia Beach Police Department in the arrest of convicted sex offender Joseph Wills, who fled from JiDion after he attempted to meet a decoy posing as a 14-year-old. [9] [6] That same year, the group worked with Accomack County deputies in Virginia to arrest 20-year-old Matthew Thomas on computer sex crime charges. [10]
On April 12, 2025, JiDion confronted Ronald Soliday, 47, of Wabash, Indiana, after Soliday allegedly arranged to meet who he believed was a 13-year-old for sex. The meeting was part of a sting organized by JiDion, who recorded the encounter and delayed Soliday until police arrived. In the video, Soliday admitted to possessing child sexual abuse material and promised to stop such behavior in front of officers. Soliday was arrested and later charged with one count of child solicitation, a Level 4 felony, carrying a possible sentence of up to 12 years in prison. [11]
On July 22, 2025, at the Academy Volleyball Club, JiDion confronted a volleyball coach that had been sending messages inappropriately to whom the coach allegedly believed was a 14-year-old boy on the LGBTQ+ dating app Grindr. [12] The encounter was captured in a viral video that received over 3 million views, in which JiDion displayed photos of genitalia allegedly sent by the coach. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department can be seen speaking with JiDion during the video, while he argues for the coach's arrest, stating: "He was telling the 14-year-old boy how he was a coach for volleyball, obviously, you can see the alarm with that, especially with him being with boys 24/7". [13] An officer featured in the video remarked, "Our prosecutor will not touch this," in response to JiDion's call for an arrest, later adding, "Nothing" when pressed further. The situation carried on until an employee at the academy asked JiDion and his crew to leave the property. [14] The coach targeted in the video was not arrested, although a police report lists him as a suspect. [12] The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded via a public statement claiming that the video lacked important context, and that the coach was trespassed from the property, and detectives had been notified of the allegations. [14]
EDP Watch collaborated with YouTuber Schlep, who produces videos of online sting operations against alleged child predators. Schlep's investigations have reportedly led to multiple arrests in the United States. In one widely circulated video that reached over 2.7 million views, Schlep and JiDion confronted a man in Central California who had allegedly arranged to meet an underage girl. Local police arrested the suspect following the encounter. [5]
Schlep's activities have been controversial. Roblox Corporation issued him a cease-and-desist order and permanently banned his accounts, citing violations of its safety policies, including "simulated child endangerment conversations" and encouraging users to move conversations off-platform. The incident prompted debate online, with some users including victims of the alleged predators expressing support for Schlep's work and others questioning the legality and ethics of such tactics. [15] On August 10, 2025, JiDion responded to Roblox's cease-and-desist and account bans in a YouTube video titled ''ROBLOX Is Threating [ sic ] To Sue Us For Catching Predators!''. In the video, he criticized the company's actions and defended the group's sting operations, arguing they were intended to protect minors. [16]
While the group has received overwhelming community support and media attention for exposing alleged predators, some law enforcement agencies have expressed concern about the risks posed by civilian sting operations. Police in Albany and Keizer, Oregon warned that such actions can be dangerous, compromise investigations, or hinder prosecutions if not coordinated with authorities. [17] [3] Officials in Virginia Beach have similarly emphasized that collaboration with law enforcement is essential to ensure successful prosecutions. [6]
