Early Works is a compilation album by the American Idol fifth-season winner Taylor Hicks. The album was released on August 12, 2008 in the United States by Modern Whomp Records. The album was available exclusively at Target Stores until November 24, 2008, when it was released to iTunes and other various online retailers. Early Works includes songs from In Your Time and Under the Radar, Hicks two pre-Idol CDs.

Hicks got his start as a professional musician in his late teens and performed around the Southeastern United States for well over the span of a decade, during which he also released two independent albums. He first gained fame when he came in second place on the second season of the reality singing competition American Idol in 2003. Fantasia Monique Barrino-Taylor, known professionally by her mononym Fantasia, is an American R&B singer and songwriter. She rose to fame as the winner of the third season of the reality television series American Idol in 2004. Following her victory, she released her debut single, "I Believe," which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Subsequently, she released her debut album, Free Yourself, which went on to be certified Platinum by the RIAA and earned Barrino three Grammy nominations in 2006.
Harold Elwin "Bo" Bice, Jr. is an American singer and musician who was the runner-up against Carrie Underwood in the fourth season of American Idol. Prior to auditioning for American Idol, Bice released a solo album as well as a few albums with his bands while performing in the night club circuit.

"Together We Are One" is a pop song written by Guy Chambers, Delta Goodrem and Brian McFadden, produced by Guy Chambers and Richard Flack for the album Commonwealth Games: Melbourne 2006 Opening Ceremony (2006). Due to the positive response that Goodrem received when performing the song live for the 2006 Commonwealth Games, she was then asked to record the song as a commercial single. She states the song is "for the athletes and all of us to come together and reach for our dreams and goals." It was released as a CD single and digital download in Australia on 1 April 2006 and had success on the charts peaking at number two.
American Idols Live! Tour 2006 was a summer concert tour in the United States featuring the top 10 contestants of the fifth season of American Idol, which aired in 2006. It was sponsored by Kellogg Pop-Tarts. The tour started on July 5 and ended on September 24 covering 60 dates, the biggest tour thus far. Initially 39 dates were planned, but 21 extra dates were later added due to demand. It followed in the tradition of other American Idol summer tours following the completion of each season in May.

"Heaven Knows" is the second single by Taylor Hicks from his self titled debut. It was announced as the second single by Clive Davis on the American Idol finale, where Hicks subsequently performed the song. Arista is hoping the song will revive sales of Hicks' album, after the underperformance of Hicks' first single "Just To Feel That Way". It hit the radio adds on May 28, 2007. By July 2008, it had sold about 11,000 copies. As of October 2007 the single had fared only slightly better than his first single, and had not increased sales of the album as was hoped.
