The Quad Cities is a region of cities in the U.S. states of Iowa and Illinois: Davenport and Bettendorf in southeastern Iowa, and Rock Island, Moline and East Moline in northwestern Illinois. These cities are the center of the Quad Cities metropolitan area, which as of 2013 had a population estimate of 383,781 and a Combined Statistical Area (CSA) population of 474,937, making it the 90th-largest CSA in the nation.
Thomson is a village along Illinois Route 84 near the Mississippi River in Carroll County, Illinois, United States. The population was 590 at the 2010 census, up from 559 at the 2000 census. Just north of the village is the United States Penitentiary, Thomson, a mostly-unused former state prison, purchased by the Federal Bureau of Prisons in 2012. Currently USP Thomson houses over 100 low-security inmates as it remodels to federal maximum-security standards.
East Moline is a city in Rock Island County, Illinois, United States. The population was 21,374 at the 2020 census. East Moline is part of the Quad Cities, along with the cities of Rock Island, Moline, and the Iowa cities of Davenport and Bettendorf. As of 2011, the Quad Cities has a population estimate of 381,342.

Graham Correctional Center is a Level 4 medium-security adult male state prison in Hillsboro, Illinois. The prison opened in 1980 with a capacity of 750 inmates. The current capacity of the prison is 974, though the average daily population is 1,906. The prison's warden is Glen Austin. Graham Correctional Center consists of 50 buildings located on 117 acres. It houses a residential sex offender program and substance abuse treatment as well as vocational and academic classes for prisoners. The facility also houses an Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) Reception and Classification Center.
Dwight Correctional Center (DCC), also known as Oakdale Reformatory for Women, and Illinois Penitentiary for Women at Dwight, was a women's prison in Livingston County, Illinois, United States, outside the village of Dwight, Illinois. It operated from 1930 to 2013.
Old Colony Correctional Center is a Massachusetts Department of Correction men's prison in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. The medium security facility is located in a 30-acre (12 ha) plot of land in the Bridgewater Correctional Complex with the Bridgewater State Hospital and the Massachusetts Treatment Center. Old Colony Correctional Center Minimum Unit is under the authority of the correctional center. As of January 6, 2020 there were 553 medium and 106 minimum inmates in general population beds.

The 150-acre (61 ha) prison opened in January 1978. A 57-acre (23 ha) plot of fenced land houses general population prisoners. It lies just south of the Lincoln Correctional Center, a facility for male offenders.
Quad City Downs was a horse race track in East Moline. The track ran live harness races from the mid 1970s through the early 1990s. The track originally opened under the name "East Moline Downs" (EMD). After financial difficulties in the first few years of operation, the track reorganized under the name Quad City Downs (QCD). The track ran simulcasts live Thoroughbred and Harness racing from tracks across the country until January 31, 2015 when the track was permanently closed.
