The Varrio East Side Longo 13 or ESL13, also known by Longos, is a Mexican American gang that was formed in Long Beach. Their enemies are all Asian gangs, the Crips and the Fresno Bulldogs, Longos identify the color grey, blue and black they may use the sports team Raiders. The gang was formed on Anaheim Street in the east of Long Beach, California.

The Crips are a gang based in the coastal regions of southern California. They were founded in Los Angeles, California in 1969 mainly by Raymond Washington and Stanley Williams. Once a single alliance between two autonomous gangs, they are now a loosely connected network of individual "sets", often engaged in open warfare with one another. Its members traditionally wear blue clothing, a practice that has waned somewhat due to police crackdowns specifically targeting gang members. Historically, members have been primarily of African-American heritage.

Fresno Bulldogs

The Fresno Bulldogs, or BDS for short, also known by the abbreviations FBD and 624, are a primarily Mexican American criminal street gang located in Fresno, California. They are considered to be one of the biggest drug gangs in Central California with membership estimated to be around 6,000 in the city of Fresno. They are engaged in a wide range of criminal activity and have been subject to many high-profile cases over the years. They wear mostly red but do not align themselves with Norteños, one of their biggest rival gangs in America.

History

Longo is the local caló for (Long Beach) but the term has been regarded more specifically as a reference to these gangs since the 1970s. East Side Longo gang are the oldest and largest Sureño gang throughout the Harbor Area of Long Beach, California. The Longos is made up of three sets: The East Side Longos (ESL13) which is the largest of the three, The second largest of the three are the West Side Longos (WSL13) followed by the North Side Longos (NSL13).

The Mexican-American gang originated during the 1950s, they adapted the Sur13 or X3 sometime in the 1970s, like many Hispanic street gangs that fall under the Sureños brand, they pay homage to the Mexican Mafia.

Sureños ‍, Southern United Raza, Sur 13 or Sureños X3 are groups of loosely affiliated gangs that pay tribute to the Mexican Mafia while in U.S. state and federal correctional facilities. Many Sureño gangs have rivalries with one another, and the only time this rivalry is set aside is when they enter the prison system. Thus, fighting is common among different Sureño gangs even though they share the same common identity. Sureños have emerged as a national gang in the United States.

The Mexican Mafia, also known as La Eme, is a highly organized Mexican American criminal organization in the United States. Despite its name, the Mexican Mafia did not originate in Mexico, and is entirely a U.S. criminal prison organization. Law enforcement officials report that the Mexican Mafia is the most powerful gang within the California prison system. Government officials state that there are currently 350–400 official members of the Mexican Mafia with around 990 associates who also carry out its illegal activities in the hopes of becoming full members.

Culture

The Varrio Longo 13 and the East Side Longos harsh treatment towards different ethnic groups are the primary reason for the formation of Asian, Samoan, Cambodian, Laotian, Vietnamese, Filipino street gangs such as the Tiny Rascal Gang and the Asian Boyz. The varrio Longo are perhaps the most hated criminal street gang from the city, due to the fact that they have killed members from every major street gang in Long Beach.

The Tiny Rascal Gang, also known as TRG or Rascals for short, is an ethnically Cambodian gang based in California. They were founded in Long Beach, California in the 1980s as part of their cause to protect themselves from the larger, more numerous American gangs in their neighborhoods. Initially, a mere cause which connected numerous youth crews and gangs across Long Beach, Santa Ana and shortly after nearby cities, they are now an established network and identity of individual "sets" or local gangs. Its members identify gray as their gang's color of distinction, a custom and practice that has waned somewhat in accordance to the police crackdowns specifically targeting gang members, but members have been seen to dress in all black with a gray rag representing their set. Historically, members have been primarily of Cambodian ethnic origin.

The Asian Boyz, also known as ABZ or AB-26, are a street gang based in Southern California. They were founded in the early 1990s as part of efforts of protection for Southeast Asian immigrants and refugees from the more numerous American gangs in their localities. According to the FBI, the gang is predominantly Southeast Asian-American, of which Cambodians account for their majority, while Filipinos, Vietnamese and other Southeast Asians comprise sizable numbers. With approximately 2,000 members, many are known to have enlisted in the U.S. military through which some were able to use their position to traffic drugs. According to the FBI's 2009 National Gang Threat Assessment, the Asian Boyz are active in 28 different cities, in 14 different states across the U.S. Their motto is "1226" which can mean "1 Life 2 Live, 26 to Die" or "1 Life 2 Live, 2 6icc to die", and the 1st, 2nd and 26th letters of the alphabet, which spells out ABZ.

Location

The East Side Longo 13 claim areas around MacAuthor Park, located on Anaheim Street and are primarily based in Central Long Beach. Their territory stretches from Daisy Street to Junipero Ave between Pacific Coast Hwy and 4th Street. They share the Eastside, Long Beach, California with three of their main rivals the Rollin 20 Crips and the Insane Crips as well as Barrio Pobre.

The term Eastside or East Side has two different meanings in the city of Long Beach, California. The first, and more current meaning, refers to an area roughly comprising the eastern half of the city, usually excluding areas south of the east-west line made by Pacific Coast Highway/Atherton Street. This area is also called East Long Beach.

The oldest cliques and subsets of the Eastside Longo are the Nueva Vida Clique (disbanded), Barrio Viejo (Old Town) and 17th street, followed by the Latin Town (LT), Playboyz Clique (PBZ) and the Loney Boys. Their other cliques consist of the Malditos (Little Bad Ones), Bad Boys, Night Owls, Primas (female clique), Stoners, Pee Wees (PWS), Dukes Clique (DKS), Tiny Locos, Latin Thugs (LTC), and the Chicos Malos (CMS).

West Side Longo (WSL)

Th West Side Longo, operates in the Westside neighborhood in West Long Beach. Their varrio stretches from willow Street to Pacific Coast Highway between the 710 Freeway and Santa Fe Avenue.

The Westside Longo are made up of several cliques known as the Cyclones, 19st, Termites, Summit Canal Locos, The Corner Boys, Tiny Locos, Dog Town, 23rd street stoners, Tiny Locas (Female Clique) and the Waynas (female clique). The Westside Longos were the first gang in Long Beach to be placed on a gang injunction.

North Side Longo (NSL)

The North Side Longos are the smallest of the three fractions of the Longo 13, but are the largest Latino street gang in North Long Beach. They claim areas near Downey Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard between Del Amo and Artesia Avenue. The Northside Longos are bordered by Compton to the North and Carson to the West.

Compton is one of the oldest cities in the county and on May 11, 1888, was the eighth city to incorporate. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city had a total population of 96,456. Carson, California City in California, United States

Carson is a city in Los Angeles County, California, located 13 miles (21 km) south of downtown Los Angeles and approximately 14 miles away from the Los Angeles International Airport. Incorporated on February 20, 1968, Carson is the newest municipality in the South Bay region of Metropolitan Los Angeles. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 91,714.

The Northside Longos consist of several cliques known as the Machos, Pee Wees, Youngsters, Baby Gangsters and the Sun Set Boys (SSB).

Rivalries

The East Side Longos and the Tiny Rascals Gang (TRG), have been engaged in a deadly feud since the 1990s after a carload of Tiny Rascals shot and killed a 16-year-old Longo in 1989. The Longos responded by killing several TRG members in retaliation and vice versa.

Longos also known for murdering members from every Crip gang in the city, the Mexican-American gang may use the term "CK-CripKiller/CripKilla".

Activities

In 1995 the West Side Longos (WSL13) were the first gang in Long Beach to placed on a gang injunction. They were the district attorney and LBPD top priority, due to the gang terrorizing rivals and local residents in the West Side community. In 2004 a second gang injunction was launched against the West Side Longos as a whole.

On August 31, 2001, the Los Angeles City Attorney sought a gang injunction against members of the Eastside Longo. The injunction had to be broken down to cover two areas, due to the Eastside Longos having the largest geographical area in Long Beach. However, after the injunction police noticed an increase in gang-related crimes.

In 2010 the North Side Longos (NSL13) were placed on a gang injunction due to an increase in gang-related crimes committed by this gang, the Long Beach City prosecutor Doug Haubert expanded the city's gang injection to include any gang affiliated with the Mexican Mafia or operating under the Sureños umbrella.

In Fresno, California they started to gang up on a Bulldog member of a different criminal group and was harassed by one of the East Side Longos, the victim was harassed a couple times then committed suicide, later the victims older brother showed up with a Luger pistol killing unarmed Longo that was formed in Long Beach living in the city of Fresno California. The East Side Longos responded with several killings of the Fresno Bulldogs.

The Longos may use this term, "EBK-Everybody killer/Everybody killa", meaning they’re willing to kill everybody for their gang. [1]

Santa Monica 13 or SMG is a Mexican-American street gang located in Santa Monica, California, United States. They reside mainly in the Pico neighborhood of Santa Monica, which is said to be one of the last remaining ghettos of Santa Monica. Even though Santa Monica 13 is a Sureño gang, they wear their traditional black bandanas. The acronym SM17 refers to Santa Monica 17th Street, which is the gang's primary subset or "clique". They write up "SMG" or "Santa Monica Gang" to show solidarity.
