Pasquale "Wally" Buono is the vice president of football operations, alternate governor and the former head coach of the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL), and one of the most successful head coaches in league history. On September 19, 2009, Buono became the CFL's all-time winningest coach when his Lions beat the Toronto Argonauts 23–17, giving him 232 regular-season victories, passing Don Matthews. He retired in 2011 with a CFL record 254 regular-season wins as head coach, to focus on duties as general manager for the Lions. In 2016, Buono came out of retirement to coach the Lions again through the 2018 season. In the final home game of the 2018 season, Buono was honored with the Bob Ackles Award as he was retiring from football with the most wins as a coach.

Andrew Harris is a Canadian professional Canadian football running back for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Harris is a four-time Grey Cup champion, two-time winner of the Grey Cup Most Valuable Canadian and one-time Grey Cup Most Valuable Player, as well as a five-time CFL All-Star and a six-time CFL West All-Star. He played for the BC Lions for six seasons before joining the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2016 as a free agent, where he was named the 2017 Most Outstanding Canadian after leading the league in rushing and setting the record for single-season receptions by a running back. In 2022, Harris passed 10,000 career rushing yards and became the CFL leader in career yards from scrimmage by a Canadian.
The Midget Football League of Manitoba (MFLM) is a league for Canadian football located in the Canadian province of Manitoba for players of ages 15–17 years old. The league currently has eight teams: the Sunrise Coyotes, Southwest Wolves, Greendell Falcons, Interlake Thunder, St. Vital Mustangs, and Transcona Nationals. Most teams are located in Winnipeg; however, Eastman, Interlake, and Pembina Valley are based in Steinbach, Stonewall, and Winkler respectively.
Bethesda Regional Health Centre, formerly Bethesda Hospital, is a hospital in Steinbach, Manitoba, one of seventeen hospitals operated by the Southern Health - Santé Sud Regional Health Authority. Bethesda is the largest hospital in the Eastman region. The hospital currently has 73 beds to serve the community and area, a new expansion that will add 23 beds began construction in 2023.

The Bentley Generals defeated the host and defending champion South East Prairie Thunder in overtime to win the national title.
The 2017 Telus Cup was Canada's 39th annual national midget 'AAA' hockey championship, contested April 24 – 30, 2017 at the CN Centre in Prince George, British Columbia. The Cape Breton West Islanders defeated the Blizzard du Séminaire Saint-François 5-4 in overtime to win the gold medal, becoming the first team from Atlantic Canada to win a national midget championship.
Valour FC is a Canadian professional soccer club based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The club competes in the Canadian Premier League and plays its home matches at IG Field.
