Ebullition Records is an American independent record label and distro in Goleta, California. It published HeartattaCk , a zine focusing on independent punk rock and hardcore punk from around the world, informed by an anti-consumerist and D.I.Y. approach.

Kent McClard, a former Maximum RocknRoll columnist, founded Ebullition Records, in 1990. [1] [ non-primary source needed ]

The Los Angeles youth crew hardcore band Inside Out was meant to record an LP as the first Ebullition release. [1] [ non-primary source needed ] However, Revelation Records asked them to release a 7" instead, and the band chose the more established label. The record wasn't released for another year, after the band had broken up and reformed as Rage Against the Machine. Inside Out had planned a second record, to be titled "Rage Against the Machine", a phrase coined by McClard in the 'zine No Answers #9. [1] [ non-primary source needed ]

In 2001 McClard sent an order to a record plant for 1,000 copies of the Los Crudos/Spitboy LP and 1,000 copies of Reversal Of Man's This Is Medicine LP. This resulted in the pressing plant accidentally making 1,000 copies of a split LP with the Los Crudos of the Los Crudos/Spitboy split and the B-Side of This Is Medicine. Instead of rejecting the copies, McClard sold the mispress split and gave the funds to a local rape victim therapy center.

Their songs express revolutionary political views. As of 2010, they have sold over 16 million records worldwide. Zacharias Manuel de la Rocha is an American musician, singer, songwriter, rapper, and activist. He is best known as the vocalist and lyricist of rock band Rage Against the Machine. Through both Rage Against the Machine and his activism, de la Rocha promotes left-wing political positions and opposes corporate America, the military-industrial complex and government oppression.

Queercore is a cultural/social movement that began in the mid-1980s as an offshoot of the punk subculture and a music genre that comes from punk rock. It is distinguished by its discontent with society in general, and specifically society's disapproval of the LGBT community. Queercore expresses itself in a DIY style through magazines, music, writing and film.

Maximumrocknroll, often written as Maximum Rocknroll and usually abbreviated as MRR, was a not-for-profit monthly zine of punk subculture. Based in San Francisco, MRR focuses on punk rock and hardcore music, and primarily features artist interviews and music reviews. Op/ed columns and news roundups are regular features as well, including submissions from international contributors. By 1990, it "had become the de facto bible of the scene". Born Against was an American hardcore punk band from New York active between 1989 and 1993. In addition to their radical leftist politics, the group espoused a DIY punk message and challenged what they perceived as being a problem within the punk subculture of their time. Though Born Against received little media exposure while still together, they have since been described as "legendary" by the Chicago Reader and the LA Weekly.

Touch and Go Records is an American independent record label based in Chicago. After its genesis as a handmade fanzine in 1979, it grew into one of the key record labels in the American 1980s underground and alternative rock scenes. Touch & Go carved out a reputation for releasing adventurous noise rock by the likes of Big Black, the Butthole Surfers, and The Jesus Lizard. Touch & Go helped to spearhead the nationwide network of underground bands that formed the pre-Nirvana indie rock scene, and helped preside over the shift from the hardcore punk that then dominated the American underground scene to the more diverse styles of alternative rock emerging at the time.

Portraits of Past was an American post-hardcore band from the San Francisco Bay Area that existed roughly from 1994–1995. The genre of music that they helped create is often described as "screamo," though that term was not used at the time the band was active. As Kent McClard recounts on the Ebullition website, the band's popularity grew only a couple of years after their demise at the end of 1995.

Submission Hold

Submission Hold were a Canadian punk band from Vancouver active from 1993 to 2005. They were known for their unusual sound, once labeled "post-genre", which combines hardcore punk with elements of experimental and Eastern European folk music. Submission Hold's lyrics often related to anarchist and feminist politics, but often with a more poetic and abstract quality than similar political bands. The band was known as Insult To Injury from 1993 to 1995 prior to changing their name.

Los Crudos is an American hardcore punk band from Chicago, Illinois active from 1991 to 1998 and from 2006 onward. Comprising all Latino members, the band paved the way for later Spanish-speaking punk bands in the United States and helped to increase the presence of Latinos in the country's predominantly white punk subculture.

Flipside, originally known as Los Angeles Flip Side, was a punk zine published in Whittier and Pasadena, California, from 1977 to 2000. In addition to publication of the magazine, the magazine was associated with its own record label, Flipside Records, releasing vinyl records and compact discs beginning in 1978.

Spitboy

Spitboy was an American anarcho-punk band founded in the San Francisco bay area, in California in 1990. The all-female band aggressively criticized patriarchy and gender roles but did not associate with the contemporaneous riot grrrl movement. They released several records and toured extensively before disbanding in 1995. Members later played in the bands Instant Girl and Aus Rotten, while drummer Michelle Cruz Gonzales and vocalist Adrienne Droogas have been active as writers.

<i>Chaos Is Me</i> 1999 studio album by Orchid

Chaos Is Me is the debut studio album by American screamo band Orchid. It was released on June 21, 1999 through Ebullition Records. Chaos Is Me heralded the change of the guard for extreme music, and brought both Amherst, Massachusetts and Hampshire College to the forefront of the scene's attention. The album was released on black, clear yellow, green, and red vinyl in 1999, and was also included on a 2002 compilation CD that included its follow-up Dance Tonight! Revolution Tomorrow!. It has since been reissued multiple times, on magenta vinyl in 2013, lavender vinyl in 2015, yellow vinyl in 2018, and received a 20th anniversary reissue in 2019.

True Liberty is an American Christian hardcore band, and they primarily play hardcore punk and punk rock. They come from Richmond, Virginia. The band started making music in 2005, and their members are lead vocalist and lead guitarist, Mike Liberty, bassist, Tom Liberty, and drummer and background vocalist, Aaron Liberty. Their first studio album, This Is War, was released in 2007 by Raging Storm Records. They independently released, Brotherhood, that came out in 2008. The studio album, City of the One, was released by Wounded Records, in 2010. Their subsequent studio album, Marked for Life, was released by Thumper Punk Records, in 2012. They released a live album, Give Me True Liberty or Give Me Death, with Thumper Punk Records, in 2014.

Reversal of Man

Reversal of Man was a hardcore punk band from Tampa, Florida that formed in 1995. The band is associated with the late 1990s screamo movement and noted for bordering on powerviolence and grindcore. The group's lyrical content was often political, and the group initially formed as a reaction to the then-growing underground nazi punk scene in Florida.

<i>This Is Medicine</i> 1999 studio album by Reversal Of Man

This Is Medicine is the only studio album by American hardcore band Reversal Of Man, released on August 9, 1999 through Ebullition Records. Jeremy Bolm of Touché Amoré named the album as one of his favorites.

Yaphet Kotto was a hardcore punk band, named after the actor, from Santa Cruz, California active between 1996 and 2005. Yaphet Kotto formed after the demise of a band called Staple that Casey Watson and Mag Delana were members of. Lyrically, the group dealt with social and political issues. They were also known for their chaotic and cathartic compositions which blended melody and extremity. The group released three full-length albums on Ebullition Records, and made several singles, extended plays, and appearances on split-albums and compilations.
