Edward Kai Wang (born March 12,1987) is a former American football offensive tackle. He played college football at Virginia Tech and was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the 2010 NFL draft. Wang was the first full-blooded Chinese player to both be drafted and to play in the NFL. [1] [2]
Wang was born in Fairfax,Virginia. He attended Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn,where he was selected the Gatorade State Player of the Year in 2004.
Wang attended Virginia Tech and was awarded 2009 All-ACC Second-team for his performance at left tackle for the Hokies. He was given the nickname,"Godzilla" due to his aggressive playing style,size,and Asian heritage. [3] [4]
Wang was selected with the 9th pick in the 5th round (140th overall) by the Buffalo Bills. [5] During the 2010 NFL season,he was a reserve offensive lineman and played in six games,starting none. He was waived/injured by the Bills on September 3,2011,and placed on injured reserve on September 4. [6] [7] [8] He was released by the Bills on November 8,2011. [9] [7]
Wang signed with the Oakland Raiders on May 2,2012. [10] He was waived/injured by the Raiders on August 27 and placed on injured reserve on August 28. [11] [12] On September 5,2012,he was waived after agreeing to an injury settlement. [13] [14]
On February 15,2013,Wang signed a two-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. [15] On August 19,2013,he was released by the Eagles. [16]
Wang's parents were both track and field athletes for China at the 1984 Summer Olympics. His younger brother,David Wang,also played football for Virginia Tech,spent the 2015 off-season with the Saint Louis Rams,played for the Guangzhou Power of the China Arena Football League (CAFL) in 2016 and the Washington Valor of the Arena Football League in 2017. He played college football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders,finishing in the top three in several school passing records before being selected in the sixth round of the 2003 NFL draft by the New England Patriots. He was a member of several other NFL and CFL teams before entering coaching in 2008.

The China Arena Football League,often abbreviated as the CAFL,was a professional arena football league that played its games in the People's Republic of China. It featured players from the now-defunct Arena Football League (AFL) and other indoor football leagues' rosters while also using players from China or who are of Chinese descent,The six team,eight-on-eight football league consisted of four Chinese players and four "foreign" players on the field at a time. The league began play in the fall of 2016 and held two seasons,one in 2016 and another,heavily abbreviated,schedule in 2019. It was the first professional American football league to play in China. The CAFL was not directly affiliated with the AFL,instead owned by AFL Global,LLC,a company that was created by Martin E. Judge Jr.

Colin Madison is a former American football offensive lineman. Madison initially played football at Willowbrook High School in Villa Park,IL;following his graduation,he attended Temple University. Madison started a total of twenty-eight games at Temple. He was signed by the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League as an undrafted free agent in 2011. In 2012,Madison made his AFL debut with the Chicago Rush. He started in a total of seven games that season. In 2013,the Rush made him a primary starter on their offensive line;Madison started in eighteen games that season. In addition to his regular duties as an offensive lineman,Madison scored three touchdowns for the Rush as a tight end. The team folded at the end of the 2013 season;as such,Madison joined the AFL's Pittsburgh Power. Madison started in all of the Power's regular season games;he was named to the All-Arena Second Team. The Power,despite posting a 15-3 record in 2014,folded in November of that year. In light of this,Madison was assigned to the San Jose SaberCats on March 18,2015. The SaberCats would go on to win ArenaBowl XXVIII at the end of the 2015 season;Madison started eighteen games on the season. On January 15,2016,Madison was assigned to the Los Angeles KISS for the 2016 season. He was selected by the Shenzhen Naja of the China Arena Football League (CAFL) in the fourth round of the 2016 CAFL Draft. On July 6,2017,Madison was assigned to the Baltimore Brigade. On April 16,2019,Madison was assigned to the Brigade again.
