Ed Weichers

Eddie Weichers was the head boxing coach at the United States Air Force Academy from 1976 to 2014. He led the Academy's boxing team to 19 national collegiate boxing championships, making it the most successful collegiate program in the United States.

As a collegian, Coach Weichers left football to take up boxing. He eventually won the 190-pound championship for West Chester University in 1973. He started as an assistant coach at his alma mater when, in 1976, was offered the coaching job at the Air Force Academy. [1] Under Coach Weichers' leadership, the Academy has produced 258 All-American boxers, 96 individual national champions, and 18 national championship teams. For 27 years, from 1980 to 2007, his teams never finished lower than second in the nation. [2]

Weichers has conducted coaching seminars throughout the world, including clinics in Australia, Guatemala, New Zealand, Jamaica, Tahiti and Grenada. While working as a boxing clinician for the Olympic Solidarity Boxing Program, he was selected to coach the Australian Olympic Boxing team, which competed in the 1984 games in Los Angeles. He also served as trainer and coach for Australia's professional world champions, Jeff Fenech and Jeff Harding. He has served as president and vice-president of the National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA).

Originally from New Orleans, Weichers holds a Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education from West Chester and a master's in arts and sports sciences from the University of Denver. In addition to coaching, he is also an associate professor in the physical education department at the Air Force Academy.

While a member of the Minnesota Golden Gophers men's gymnastics team, Loken was NCAA all-around gymnastics champion in 1942 and the Big Ten Conference all-around champion in 1941 and 1942. He was the coach of the University of Michigan gymnastics team for 36 years from 1948-1983. Loken's gymnasts won the NCAA championships in 1963 and 1970, as well as 12 Big Ten championships. His record as Michigan's gymnastics coach was 250-72-1. Loken also coached the Michigan trampolining team to NCAA championships in 1969 and 1970.

The Air Force Falcons boxing team represents the United States Air Force Academy in the National Collegiate Boxing Association. Led for 31 years by Coach Ed Weichers, the team has had astounding success. It has won 18 national championships, and from 1980 to 2007, never finished lower than second in the nation. In 2008 and 2009, Air Force finished third.

Taras "Terry" Liskevych ; born October 14, 1948, in Munich, Germany) served as the United States women's national volleyball team head coach from 1985 to 1996. During his tenure Liskevych posted over 300 international victories.
