Carlos Edwin Colón González Sr. is a Puerto Rican wrestling promoter and former professional wrestler, better known as Carlitos Colón or simply Carlos Colón. He is, along with Victor Jovica, an owner of the Puerto Rican wrestling promotion World Wrestling Council (WWC), where he has held the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship a record 26 times. He is the patriarch of the Colón wrestling family, composed by his sons Carly and Eddie, daughter Stacy and nephew Orlando. In 2014, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and the following year into the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame.
Edward Patrick Francis Eagan was an American boxer and bobsledder who is notable as being the only person to win a gold medal at both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games in different disciplines. Eagan won his summer gold in boxing and his winter gold in four-man bobsled. Finally, Eagan is one of the few athletes who have competed in both the Summer and Winter Olympic games.
Edward Walter Olczyk Jr. is an American former center in the National Hockey League for 16 seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, and Pittsburgh Penguins. He won the Stanley Cup with the Rangers in 1994. Olczyk was also the head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins from June 2003 to December 2005.
Edward Blay was a Ghanaian boxer. He competed at the 1960 and 1964 Olympics and won a bronze medal in the light welterweight (63.5 kg) category in 1964. Blay was a two-time Commonwealth Games champion, in 1962 and 1966,and amateur boxer from the late 50s to 1968, and later briefly fought as a professional boxer. He lived in Italy for some time, and after returning to Ghana established the Sole Mio restaurant at Osu, Accra.
Bernardo Segura Rivera is a Mexican race walker. He is the current holder of the 20,000m World Record for Race Walking on a track with a time of 1:17:25.6. In the 2000 Olympic Games, Segura finished first the 20 km walk. However, he was disqualified by the judges while he was being congratulated by then president Ernesto Zedillo.
Puerto Rico competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics which was held in Beijing, People's Republic of China from August 8 to August 24, 2008. The American territory with a population of four million people qualified 22 athletes in eight different sports. The appearance of the Puerto Rican delegation at the Beijing Olympics marked the commonwealth's sixteenth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics, and its twenty-second appearance at any Olympic Games, since its debut at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, England. Of its competitors participating in events that involve progression by heats, six athletes advanced at least one round in their events, and two advanced at least two rounds, with Asunción Ocasio almost medaling bronze in taekwondo. However, there were no Puerto Rican medalists at the Beijing Olympics. McWilliams Arroyo, a boxer, bore Puerto Rico's flag at the ceremonies.
Edward Leo Farrell was an American track and field athlete who competed in the 1912 Summer Olympics. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts and died in Watertown, Massachusetts. In 1912 he finished 13th in the triple jump event and 14th in the long jump competition.
Bhutan competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This marked the nation's eighth appearance at the Summer Olympics since its debut in the 1984 Summer Olympics, and the first in which the nation competed in a sport other than archery. The Bhutanese delegation included archer Sherab Zam and shooter Kunzang Choden. Zam was the flag bearer for both the opening and closing ceremonies. Neither of Bhutan's athletes progressed beyond the first round of their events. Bhutan was one of only two countries to have a female-only team at the 2012 Games.
Francisco "Frank" Rivera Paniagua was a Puerto Rican sprinter who competed in the 1952 Summer Olympics and in the 1956 Summer Olympics. He won a bronze medal in the 1959 Pan American Games 4×400 metres relay. He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Died in 2013 in San Juan. Served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps in Korea. He was buried at the Puerto Rico National Cemetery in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.
Iván Rodríguez Padilla is a Puerto Rican former sprinter who competed in the 1956 Summer Olympics and in the 1960 Summer Olympics. He finished third in the 1959 Pan American Games 4×400 metres Relay. In the 1959 Pan American Games 400 metres Rodríguez finished fifth.
Marco Rivera Miranda is a Spanish former freestyle swimmer who competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics and in the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Edward James Dawkins is a New Zealand track cyclist. At the 2010 Commonwealth Games he won the silver medal in the men's sprint and the bronze medal in the men's 1 kilometre time trial. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, he won the bronze medal in the men's sprint, and was part of the New Zealand time that won the gold medal in the team sprint, with Ethan Mitchell and Sam Webster. The team sprint team set two Commonwealth Games records along the way. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, he won alongside Sam Webster and Ethan Mitchell a silver medal in the team sprint, but did not go beyond the round 1 repechage in the individual sprint.
Luis Ramon Rivera Rivera is a Puerto Rican gymnast. Rivera had won a total of three medals at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, including two golds for the team all-around and pommel horse. He competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he finished fourteenth in the men's individual all-around final, with a total technical score of 90.175. He is also affiliated with Federacion Puertorriqueña de Gimnasia, and is coached and trained by Jose and Juan R. Colon.
Ruth Rivera Felix was a Puerto Rican female weightlifter, competing in the 63 kg category and representing Puerto Rico at international competitions.
María Rivera is a Mexican former swimmer. She competed in two events at the 1988 Summer Olympics.
