Edition Records is an independent record label that was founded in 2008 by pianist Dave Stapleton and photographer Tim Dickeson. [1]
In 2008, pianist and composer Dave Stapleton and photographer Tim Dickeson started Edition Records as a label for jazz and improvised music. [1] [2] In 2013 the label began the Edition Classics series to focus on chamber music by international ensembles and soloists. The label is distributed in the UK by The Orchard. [3]

The first Edition Records Festival was held at London's Kings Place in September 2011. [4] Further festivals were held in 2012 and 2013. At the 2013 festival, Edition started its classical label Edition Classics. [5] The first release on this label was Vibrez by Cellophony, an octet of eight cellists. [6]
In February 2017, the Cockpit in London featured Edition Records musicians in a Jazz FM (UK) event organised by Jez Nelson. Performances included Laura Jurd's Dinosaur and a solo performance by Jasper Høiby. [7]
In 2017 Edition Records and the Royal Academy of Music announced that the 2017 winner of the seventh Kenny Wheeler Jazz Prize was saxophonist and composer Tom Barford. The label released albums by previous winners Josh Arcoleo and Rob Luft. [8] In July 2017 the album Together, As One by Dinosaur was nominated for the 2017 Mercury Prize. [9]
John Taylor was a British jazz pianist, born in Manchester, England, who occasionally performed on the organ and the synthesizer. In his obituary, The Guardian described him as "one of the great jazz pianists and composers of his generation" and at a musical level comparable to Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett, McCoy Tyner and Brad Meldhau.

The Parliamentary Jazz Awards in the United Kingdom are organised by the All Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group (APPJAG) at the Houses of Parliament in London. The group consists of over a hundred members drawn from across the UK political parties. The awards were the brainchild Bob Blizzard, a long-time enthusiast of the jazz genre who was concerned that there was a lack of national recognition for the work of jazz performers and venues across the UK. Blizzard was involved with organising and running the awards for 11 years. Also supporting the awards are Jazz Services, Jazz UK, Jazzwise, the UK Musicians' Union jazz section, and PPL.
Phronesis is a jazz trio, formed in 2005 by Danish bass player Jasper Høiby. The piano trio is completed by British pianist Ivo Neame and Swedish drummer Anton Eger. Phronesis have been described by Jazzwise magazine as "the most exciting and imaginative piano trio since e.s.t. - Esbjörn Svensson Trio". In 2017 the band was awarded Jazz Ensemble of the Year in the APPJAG Parliamentary Jazz Awards.
Marius Søfteland Neset is a Norwegian jazz musician (saxophone) living in Copenhagen. He is known from collaborations within the jazz bands "People Are Machines", "Kaktusch", "JazzKamikaze" and Django Bates projects "StoRMChaser" big band and "Human Chain". He is the son of music teachers guitarist Terje Neset and pianist Anne Leni Søfteland Sæbø, and the brother of the vocalist Anna Søfteland Neset flautist Ingrid Søfteland Neset.
