Edmond Spaho (born on 14 November of 1958) is an Albanian Democratic Party politician and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Korca since 25 April 2021.

Early life and education

Edmond Spaho is born in Tirana. He studied for economy at the University of Tirana, where he graduated in 1982. In 1992, has completed studies on Financial Programming and Policy at the IMF Institute in Washington, D.C.. During 1995-1996 has completed the graduate studies in Business Administration at the Bowling Green State University, Ohio, United States. [1]

Political career

Edmond Spaho has exercised several important positions in the public administration including Deputy General Director of the State Stock, Director of the Macroeconomics Department at the Ministry of Economy.

On May 1992 he was appointed Deputy Minister of The Ministry of Tourism and on 6 April 1993 was appointed as Minister of Tourism, in Aleksander Meksi Government. He left the office in 3 December 1994.

During the period of 1998-2005 he was the Director of Albanian National Training and Technical Assistance Resource Center established by USAID.

HE has also been Chairmain of Albanian Football Federation during the period of 1994-1996.

Edmond Spaho is member of the Democratic Party of Albania since its foundation. Since 2001, has also been elected Secretary for the Economy, member of the National Council, and member of the Presidency of the Democratic Party. [2]

Edmond Spaho was elected as a member of the Parliament of Albania in the 2005 general election as a member of the Democratic Party for the Korçë constituency. [3] During the 2005-2009 and 2009-2013 legislatures, has been the Chairman of Standing Committee on Economy and Finance.

He was re-elected as MP in the same electoral zone, thus becoming one of the 56 MPs of the Democratic Party's parliamentary group for the years 2009-2013. [4] He also was re-elected as Member of Parliament in the 2013 elections, where his party lost the elections, thus becoming MP of opposition for next four years. [5] During the legislature 2013–2017 years Mr. Spaho was appointed as Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Albania.

In the 2017 general election, Edmond Spaho was elected Member of Parliament in the Elbasan District, thus becoming the Member of Albanian parliament for the fourth consecutive time. [6] He is Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party since 2013 and incumbent leader of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group since 9 September 2017. [7]

During the 2021 general election, Edmond Spaho was elected for the fifth time as Member of the Albanian Parliament in Korca District.

Fatos Nano Albanian politician

Fatos Thanas Nanolisten  is an Albanian socialist politician who was the Prime Minister of Albania several times; he was the first leader and founder of the Socialist Party of Albania and a member of the Albanian Parliament from 1991 to 1996 and 1997 to 2009. He reformed the Anti-Revisionist Marxist-Leninist ideology of the Labor Party of Albania into social democracy for its successor, the Socialist Party. During his leadership, the Socialist Party, as a result of reforms, joined the Socialist International and Party of European Socialists. Nano was a candidate in the 2007 presidential election but did not win. He again tried in the 2012 presidential election, but he did not even qualify as a candidate, because the leaders of parties in Parliament obstructed their respective MPs to elect him as candidate in the elections.

The Democratic Party of Albania is a conservative, center-right to right-wing political party in Albania. Rilindja Demokratike is the party's official newspaper. Since 2013, they have been the official and largest opposition party in the country, with Lulzim Basha as party chairman. Its youth organisation, FRPD, is one of the founders of the Youth of the European People's Party (YEPP).

Ilir Meta President of Albania

Ilir Rexhep Meta is an Albanian politician who served as President of Albania from 24 July 2017 to 9 June 2021. Previously he served as Prime Minister from 1999 to 2002. He was Chairman of the Parliament of Albania from 2013 to 2017. Meta also held positions as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs and Minister of Economy, Trade, and Energy. The Parliament of Albania or Kuvendi is the unicameral representative body of the citizens of the Republic of Albania; it is Albania's legislature. The Parliament is composed of not less than 140 members elected to a four-year term on the basis of direct, universal, periodic and equal suffrage by secret ballot. The Parliament is presided over by a Speaker of the Parliament, who is assisted by at least one deputy speaker. The electoral system is based on party-list proportional representation. 2011 Albanian local elections

The Albanian local elections of 2011 took place on 8 May 2011 in Albania. Electors were asked to elect their municipality's mayor, municipal council members, municipal unit mayor, and municipal unit members. The elections were administrated by the Central Election Commission of Albania. Only 9 of the 384 winning candidates were women.

31st Legislature of Albania

The Thirty-first Legislature of Albania, officially known as the IX Pluralist Legislature of Albania, is the legislature of Albania following the 2017 general election of Members of Parliament (MPs) to the Albanian Parliament. Belind Këlliçi Albanian politician

Belind Këlliçi is an Albanian politician. He was elected Member of Parliament for Tirana County on April 2021 general elections. He has studied in the United States from 2005 to 2009 and has returned to Albania to work for the Democratic Party of Albania. He has been in the Democratic Party's executive board since 2014.

Gerhardus Willem Koornhof is a South African politician and economist who serves as the Parliamentary Counsellor to President Cyril Ramaphosa. When Ramaphosa served as deputy president, Koornhof was his parliament counsellor. An MP since 1994, Koornhof currently represents the African National Congress, though he previously represented United Democratic Movement between 1999 and 2003 and the National Party/New National Party before that.
