Edmund C. Moy (born September 12,1957) is an American businessman and former government official. From 2006 to 2011,he served as the 38th Director of the United States Mint.
Born in Detroit,Michigan on September 12,1957,Moy was raised in Waukesha,Wisconsin,where he worked in his parents' restaurant while growing up. He is a 1975 graduate of Waukesha North High School and a 1979 graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison,where he graduated with a triple major in economics,international relations,and political science. [3] At UW–Madison,Moy is a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity.
Moy is an active participant in organizations representing the Asian-American community,as well as a member of the Board of Directors of Christianity Today International. He was elected as the Grand Crysophylos (Treasurer) for Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity at the 54th Biennial Conclave held in Las Vegas,Nevada on August 7,2007. He then became Grand Grammateus (Secretary),followed by Grand Epiprytanis (Vice President). He was named the Teke Alumnus of the Year in 2005. [4] He was elected Grand Prytanis (President) at the 2011 Conclave.
For two-and-one-half years,beginning in 1997,Moy suffered from a debilitating nerve illness,which was later cured by brain surgery. [5]
Moy is married to Karen Johnson Moy,and has a daughter that was adopted from China,named Nora Sue Moy (born in 2005). [1] : 71
From 1979 to 1989,Moy worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield United of Wisconsin. [1] : 74 Moy then served as Director of the Office of Managed Care at the Health Care Financing Administration during the George H. W. Bush administration. [1] : 73 From 1994 to 2001,he worked for a number of private-sector companies. [1] : 73 From 2001 to 2006,Moy served in the George W. Bush administration as Special Assistant to the President for Presidential Personnel. [1] : 73 He oversaw the selection of candidates for presidential appointments in the general areas of human,natural,and cultural resources. [6] In 2003,he served on the transition team for the newly created Department of Homeland Security. [7]
On June 29,2006,President Bush nominated Moy to serve as the 38th Director of the United States Mint. [1] : 71 He was sworn in on September 5,2006. [3] Moy earned the Alexander Hamilton Medal for public service,awarded by then-Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson,Jr. [8] Moy announced his resignation as Director of the United States Mint on December 20,2010,effective January 9,2011. After leaving the United States Mint,Moy became Vice President Corporate Infrastructure for L&L Energy,Inc. [2] [9] As of 2014,he is the chief strategist for Fortress Gold Group. [10] [11] Moy also writes occasional articles for Moneynews.com. [12] In November 2021,Moy joined the thought leadership team at U.S. Money Reserve as Senior IRA Strategist. [13]
In 2021,Moy was named one of Coin World's Most Influential People in Numismatics (1960-2020). [14]
Delta Kappa Epsilon (ΔΚΕ),commonly known as DKE or Deke,is one of the oldest fraternities in the United States,with fifty-six active chapters and five active colonies across North America. It was founded at Yale College in 1844 by fifteen sophomores who were discontented with the existing fraternity order on campus. Phi Sigma Kappa (ΦΣΚ),colloquially known as Phi Sig or PSK,is a men's social and academic fraternity with approximately 74 active chapters and provisional chapters in North America. Most of its first two dozen chapters were granted to schools in New England,New York,and Pennsylvania;therefore its early development was strongly Eastern in character,eventually operating chapters at six of the eight Ivy League schools as well as more egalitarian state schools. Tau Epsilon Phi (ΤΕΦ),commonly known as TEP or Tau Ep,is an American collegiate social fraternity that was founded at Columbia University in 1910. Since its establishment,the fraternity has chartered 144 chapters and colonies,chiefly located at universities and colleges on the East Coast. Its national headquarters is located in Troy,New York. Although originally a Jewish fraternity,TEP opened to non-Jewish members in the 1960s.
Phi Sigma Epsilon (ΦΣΕ) was a North American social fraternity that operated for 75 years until its merger with the Phi Sigma Kappa (ΦΣΚ) fraternity. In 1985,the majority of Phi Sigma Epsilon chapters participated in the merger. Phi Sigma Kappa incorporated many of the symbols of Phi Sigma Epsilon into its own,changing its crest,and expanding its Cardinal Principals,symbolism,rituals,and historical canon to embrace the milestones of Phi Sigma Epsilon's development. These changes were soon fully adopted by all chapters of the fraternity which retained the name Phi Sigma Kappa.

Tau Kappa Epsilon (ΤΚΕ),commonly known as ΤΚΕ or Teke,is a social college fraternity founded on January 10,1899,at Illinois Wesleyan University. The organization has chapters throughout the United States and Canada,making the Fraternity an international organization. Since its founding in 1899,Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity has never had an exclusionary or discriminatory clause to prevent individuals from joining and has instead admitted members based on their "personal worth and character". James W. Carr is an American educator. Carr was nominated by President George W. Bush to the National Security Education Board in 2005 and served in that capacity until 2011. In 2020 Carr was appointed by U.S House minority leader,Representative Kevin McCarthy,to the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom. Before retirement in 2019 Dr. Carr had served as a professor of business,senior vice president and executive vice president of Harding University in Searcy,Arkansas. Carr was appointed to the Arkansas Forestry Commission in 2004 by Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and was reappointed to the Commission in 2012 by Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe,during which time he served as vice chairman of the board. In 2015 Carr was appointed by Governor Asa Hutchinson to the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board,where he served as chairman from 2018-2020. Dr. Carr has served on the board of directors of World Christian Broadcasting since 1993. From 1980 to 1984 Dr. Carr served on the board of directors of the Comsafe Company,a Jack Nicklaus-Golden Bear company headquartered in Tallahassee and West Palm Beach. He currently serves on the executive board of the Quapaw Council of the Boy Scouts of America,on the board of the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce and on the Business Board of First Community Bank.
