Edmond K. Cowan (born 1937) was a Sierra Leonean politician. He was the speaker of Parliament of Sierra Leone from 2000 to 2007. [1] He was subsequently appointed as the country's Ombudsman. [2] [3]
Sierra Leone,officially the Republic of Sierra Leone,colloquially Salone,is a country on the southwest coast of West Africa. It is bordered by Liberia to the southeast and Guinea surrounds the northern half of the nation. The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) are the armed forces of Sierra Leone,responsible for the territorial security of Sierra Leone's borders and defending the national interests of Sierra Leone,within the framework of the 1991 Sierra Leone Constitution and International laws. The armed forces were formed after independence in 1961,on the basis of elements of the former British Royal West African Frontier Force,then present in the Sierra Leone Colony and Protectorate. Circa 2010,the Sierra Leone Armed Forces consisted of around 13,000 personnel.

The Sierra Leone Civil War (1991–2002),or the Sierra Leonean Civil War,was a civil war in Sierra Leone that began on 23 March 1991 when the Revolutionary United Front (RUF),with support from the special forces of Charles Taylor's National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL),intervened in Sierra Leone in an attempt to overthrow the Joseph Momoh government. The resulting civil war lasted 11 years,enveloped the country,and left over 50,000 dead.
Mohamed Kallon MOR is a Sierra Leonean international manager and former footballer who played as a striker. He is widely considered the most famous footballer from Sierra Leone. He last played for the Sierra Leone club Kallon F.C.,as well as making 39 appearances for the Sierra Leone national football team during his career.
Parliament of Sierra Leone is the legislative branch of the government of Sierra Leone. It is principally responsible for making laws. The Sierra Leone parliament consists of 146 members,of which 132 members are directly elected from across Sierra Leone's 16 districts,while 14 are paramount chiefs appointed from the 14 rural districts. The parliament is led by the Speaker of the House;the position is currently held by Abass Bundu of the Sierra Leone People's Party. The current elected 132 ordinary members of parliament are composed of members of the All People's Congress,the Sierra Leone People's Party which are the two largest political parties in Sierra Leone plus two other parties,the National Grand Coalition and the Coalition for Change and finally,three Independent members who were not elected under any party.
The Special Court for Sierra Leone,or the "Special Court" (SCSL),also called the Sierra Leone Tribunal,was a judicial body set up by the government of Sierra Leone and the United Nations to "prosecute persons who bear the greatest responsibility for serious violations of international humanitarian law and Sierra Leonean law" committed in Sierra Leone after 30 November 1996 and during the Sierra Leone Civil War. The court's working language was English. The court listed offices in Freetown,The Hague,and New York City.

Abass Chernor Bundu is a Sierra Leonean politician,diplomat,and the current Speaker of the Sierra Leone House of Parliament,in office since April 25,2018. Bundu was elected speaker by receiving 70 votes in Parliament. The Sierra Leone Anti-corruption Commission (ACC-SL) commonly known as ACC is an independent agency of the Sierra Leone Sierra Leone Government,that investigates and prosecutes corruption cases in Sierra Leone. The ACC is supervised by the Sierra Leone Ministry of Justice. The current Head of the ACC is Francis Ben Kaifala,who has been in office since June 2018.

The country has under-17 and under-20 women's national sides. The development of women's football in Sierra Leone faces challenges present throughout the continent. Domestically,it faces its own issues including the lack of a women's domestic competition and the decline in popularity of the sport among women.
Sheku Badara Bashiru Dumbuya,commonly known as S.B.B. Dumbuya,is a Sierra Leonean politician and former Speaker of the House of Parliament of Sierra Leone. A prominent member of the ruling All People's Congress (APC),S.B.B. Dumbuya was elected as Speaker on January 21,2014 with one hundred parliamentarians voted in his favor,and fifteen parliamentarians voted for his opponent Bu-Buakei Jabbi of the main opposition Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP). S.B.B. Dumbuya succeeded Abel Nathaniel Bankole Stronge as speaker.
Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah also commonly known by his nickname Chericoco is Sierra Leonean lawyer and politician who is currently the leader of opposition since 2019 and previous held the position of Deputy speaker of parliament of Sierra Leone in the erstwhile government of Hon. Ernest Bai Korma and Parliamentary Chairman of the Mines and Minerals Resources Committee. He had also served as Chairman of the Parliamentarry Legislative Committee.
