Abel Nathaniel Bankole Stronge is a Sierra Leonean politician who was Speaker of the Parliament of Sierra Leone from 2007 through November 2013. [1] [2] He is a member of the ruling All People's Congress (APC) and represents the Western Area Urban District. Bankole Stronge succeeded Edmund Cowan of the Sierra Leone People's Party as speaker of Parliament after the 2007 Sierra Leone Presidential and Legislative elections.
Bankole Stronge was born in Freetown. He is a Christian and a member of the Creole ethnic minority who mostly live in the Western Area of Sierra Leone. [3] [4] [5]

Moyamba District is a district in the Southern Province of Sierra Leone,with a population of 318,064 in the 2015 census. Its capital and largest city is Moyamba. The other major towns include Njala,Rotifunk and Shenge. The district is the largest in the Southern Province by geographical area,occupying a total area of 6,902 km2 (2,665 sq mi) and comprises fourteen chiefdoms.
Abass Chernor Bundu is a Sierra Leonean politician,diplomat,and the current Speaker of the Sierra Leone House of Parliament,in office since April 25,2018. Bundu was elected speaker by receiving 70 votes in Parliament. The main opposition the All People's Congress,which won the most seats in Parliament,boycotted the election process in protest and did not nominate a candidate for speaker. Bundu is a veteran politician,and a very close ally and personal friend of Sierra Leone's president Julius Maada Bio.
Fourah Bay College is a public university in the neighbourhood of Mount Aureol in Freetown,Sierra Leone. Founded on 18 February 1827,it is the first western-style university built in Sub-Saharan Africa and,furthermore,the first university-level institution in Africa. It is a constituent college of the University of Sierra Leone (USL) and was formerly affiliated with Durham University (1876–1967).
The Temne,also called Atemne,Témené,Temné,Téminè,Temeni,Thaimne,Themne,Thimni,Timené,Timné,Timmani,or Timni,are a West African ethnic group. They are predominantly found in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone. Some Temne are also found in Guinea. The Temne constitute the largest ethnic group in Sierra Leone,at 35.5% of the total population,which is slightly bigger than the Mende people at 31.2%. They speak Temne,a Mel branch of the Niger–Congo languages.
Kenema District is a district in the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone. Its capital and largest city is Kenema,which is the third most populous city in Sierra Leone,after Freetown and Bo. Tongo is the second most populous city in the district. Other major towns in Kenema District include Blama and Yomboma. The district is the most populous district in the Eastern province with a population 609,873. Kenema District has an area of 6,053 km2 (2,337 sq mi) and comprises sixteen chiefdoms.
The Western Area Urban District is one of the 16 districts of Sierra Leone. It is by far the most populous district in the country with a population of 1,050,301 and is located in the Western Area of the country. The Western Area Urban District exclusively comprises the entire city of Freetown,the national capital,and its divided into the East End of Freetown,Central Freetown and the West End of Freetown;which are in turns divided into wards and constituencies within the City of Freetown.
The Kuranko,also called Koranko,Kolanko,Kooranko,Koronko,Kouranko,Kulanko,Kurako,Kuronko,Kuranké,or Karanko,are a Mandeka people that occupy a large section in a mountainous region within northeastern Sierra Leone and southern Guinea. Within this geographical region,different dialects,as well as distinct social groupings can be found. In general,the Koranko are a peaceful people who have maintained a separate ethnic identity,despite years of tribal mixings. Each Kuranko village is led by a chief and a group of elders.
The Yalunka,or Dialonké,are a Mandé-speaking people and the original inhabitants of Futa Jallon,a mountainous region in Guinea,West Africa. The Yalunka people live primarily in Guinea,particularly in Faranah,while smaller communities are found in Kouroussa. Additional Yalunka are also located in northeastern Sierra Leone,southeastern Senegal,and southwestern Mali.
Haja Afsatu Olayinka Ebishola Savage Kabba is a Sierra Leonean Oku politician and former Sierra Leone minister of Energy and Power. She served as a member of Parliament of Sierra Leone from the Western Area Urban District from 2002 to 2007.
Bernadette Lahai,CRSL is a Sierra Leonean politician and the current Minority Leader of Parliament of Sierra Leone. She is the leader of the main opposition Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) in the Sierra Leone House of Parliament. Sheku Badara Bashiru Dumbuya,commonly known as S.B.B. Dumbuya,is a Sierra Leonean politician and former Speaker of the House of Parliament of Sierra Leone. A prominent member of the ruling All People's Congress (APC),S.B.B. Dumbuya was elected as Speaker on January 21,2014 with one hundred parliamentarians voted in his favor,and fifteen parliamentarians voted for his opponent Bu-Buakei Jabbi of the main opposition Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP). S.B.B. Dumbuya succeeded Abel Nathaniel Bankole Stronge as speaker.
The Sierra Leone Creole people are an ethnic group of Sierra Leone. The Sierra Leone Creole people are descendants of freed African-American,Afro-Caribbean,and Liberated African slaves who settled in the Western Area of Sierra Leone between 1787 and about 1885. The colony was established by the British,supported by abolitionists,under the Sierra Leone Company as a place for freedmen. The settlers called their new settlement Freetown. Today,the Sierra Leone Creoles are 1.2 percent of the population of Sierra Leone.
The Colony and Protectorate of Sierra Leone was the British colonial administration in Sierra Leone from 1808 to 1961,part of the British Empire from the abolitionism era until the decolonisation era. The Crown colony,which included the area surrounding Freetown,was established in 1808. The protectorate was established in 1896 and included the interior of what is today known as Sierra Leone.
John Rosolu Bankole Thompson was a Sierra Leonean judge and jurist who published several studies on the law of Sierra Leone. Bankole Thompson served on the Special Court for Sierra Leone and headed the Commission of Inquiry for the Government of Sierra Leone and the Sierra Leone Anti-corruption Commission from 2018.
