Sheku Badara Bashiru Dumbuya (born November 25,1945), [1] commonly known as S.B.B. Dumbuya,is a Sierra Leonean politician and former Speaker of the House of Parliament of Sierra Leone. [2] [3] [4] A prominent member of the ruling All People's Congress (APC),S.B.B. Dumbuya was elected as Speaker on January 21,2014 with one hundred parliamentarians voted in his favor,and fifteen parliamentarians voted for his opponent Bu-Buakei Jabbi of the main opposition Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP). [5] S.B.B. Dumbuya succeeded Abel Nathaniel Bankole Stronge as speaker. [6]
Born and raised in the capital Freetown,S.B.B. Dumbuya was previously the majority leader of the House of Parliament of Sierra Leone. [7] [8] He also served as ambassador to China and other Asian countries. [9] He is an elected representative in the House of Parliament of Constituency 100 in the Freetown's neighbourhood of Kissi in the Western Area Urban District. He was re-elected in a landslide to Parliament in the 2012 Sierra Leone Parliamentary elections with 60.65%,defeating his closest rival Sheka Kanu of the Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) who took 30.76%. [10] S.B.B. Dumbuya is a close ally of Sierra Leone's president Ernest Bai Koroma.
Sierra Leone,officially the Republic of Sierra Leone,colloquially Salone,is a country on the southwest coast of West Africa. The Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) is one of the two major political parties in Sierra Leone,along with its main political rival the All People's Congress (APC). It has been the ruling party in Sierra Leone since April 4,2018. The SLPP dominated Sierra Leone's politics from its foundation in 1951 to 1967,when it lost the 1967 parliamentary election to the APC,led by Siaka Stevens. Originally a centre-right conservative party,since 2012 it identifies as a social democratic party,with a centrist tendency. Now it is a centrist party.
Siaka Probyn Stevens was the leader of Sierra Leone from 1967 to 1985,serving as Prime Minister from 1967 to 1971 and as President from 1971 to 1985. Stevens' leadership was often characterized by patrimonial rule and self-indulgence,consolidating power by means of corruption and exploitation.
The All People's Congress (APC) is one of the two major political parties in Sierra Leone,the other being its main political rival the Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP). The APC has been the main opposition party in Sierra Leone since 4 April 2018 when Julius Maada Bio of the SLPP won the 2018 presidential elections,though it maintains a majority in parliament.

Charles Francis Kondo Margai is a Sierra Leonean politician and constitutional lawyer who served as Attorney General and Minister of Justice of Sierra Leone in 2018.
Edward Mohamed Turay is a Sierra Leonean politician and diplomat. He was leader of the opposition All People's Congress (APC) from 1996 to 2002. He has been Sierra Leone's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom since 2010.
Ernest Bai Koroma is a Sierra Leonean politician who served as the fourth President of Sierra Leone from 17 September 2007 to 4 April 2018.
Abass Chernor Bundu is a Sierra Leonean politician,diplomat,and the current Speaker of the Sierra Leone House of Parliament,in office since April 25,2018. Bundu was elected speaker by receiving 70 votes in Parliament. The main opposition the All People's Congress,which won the most seats in Parliament,boycotted the election process in protest and did not nominate a candidate for speaker Archived 26 April 2018 at the Wayback Machine. Bundu is a veteran politician,and a very close ally and personal friend of Sierra Leone"s president Julius Maada Bio
The Western Area Rural District is one of the sixteen districts of Sierra Leone. It is located mostly around the peninsula in the Western Area of Sierra Leone. The Western Area Rural District has a 2015 census population of 442,951. The district capital and largest city is Waterloo. Other major towns in the district include Newton,Benguema,Leicester,Tombo and Regent. Most of the towns and villages in the Western area rural District are close to the capital Freetown;and are part of the Freetown Metropolitan Area.
General elections were held in Sierra Leone on 11 August 2007. Seven candidates competed in the first round of the presidential election;no candidate received the necessary 55% of the vote to win in the first round,and a second round was held between the top two candidates,Ernest Bai Koroma of the All People's Congress (APC) and Solomon Berewa of the Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP),on 8 September. According to official results,Koroma won the election with 54.6% of the vote.
General elections were held in Sierra Leone on 17 November 2012. The result was a sweeping victory for the ruling All People's Congress. Its leader,incumbent president Ernest Bai Koroma,won 58.7% of the vote,enough to win a second term without the need for a runoff. The APC also won 67 of the 112 elected seats in Parliament. To date,it is the APC's best showing at an election since the restoration of multiparty politics in 1991.
Dr Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara is a Sierra Leonean politician and economist. He was the All Peoples Congress (APC) Party's candidate for President of Sierra Leone in the 2018 election. He was the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sierra Leone from 2012 to 2017,Minister of Finance and Economic Development from 2009 to 2013,Governor of the Bank of Sierra Leone from 2007 to 2009,Financial Secretary in the Ministry of Finance during President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah's administration.
In April 1961,Sierra Leone became politically independent of Great Britain. It retained a parliamentary system of government and was a member of the British Commonwealth of Nations. The Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP),led by Sir Milton Margai were victorious in the first general election under universal adult franchise in May 1962. Upon Sir Milton's death in 1964,his half-brother,Sir Albert Margai,succeeded him as Prime Minister. Sir Albert attempted to establish a one-party state had the ready cooperation of the opposition All People' Congress but met fierce resistance from some cadre within his party Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) and ultimately abandoned the idea.

Bu-Buakei Jabbi is a Sierra Leonean lawyer and politician from the Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP). He is an elected member of Parliament of Sierra Leone for Constituency 8 in Kailahun District. He is the senior attorney for the SLPP.
Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah also commonly known by his nickname Chericoco is Sierra Leonean lawyer and politician who is currently the leader of opposition since 2019 and previous held the position of Deputy speaker of parliament of Sierra Leone in the erstwhile government of Hon. Ernest Bai Korma and Parliamentary Chairman of the Mines and Minerals Resources Committee. He had also served as Chairman of the Parliamentarry Legislative Committee.
Ibrahim Rassin Bundu is a Sierra Leonean politician and the current majority leader of the Sierra Leone Parliament. Bundu was previously the minority whip and deputy majority leader of parliament. He is a prominent and senior member of the All People's Congress (APC) party.
General elections were held in Sierra Leone on 7 March 2018 to elect the President,Parliament and local councils. Incumbent President Ernest Bai Koroma did not run for another term,as he was constitutionally ineligible,having served the maximum ten years in office.
