Edward & Cynthia Institute of Public Health (ECIPH) is a Mangalore based academic and research institute [1] focused on global health and policy. [2] [3]

Reception

Through the working paper on firecrackers, the researchers at the institute called for a ban on firecrackers in India. [9] Researchers at ECIPH suggested a robust geriatric policy using assistive technology, through a publication in WHO Journal. [10]

Undersecretaries to Government of India visited ECIPH to study the various innovative public health programmes launched by the institute and to adapt the best practices available. [11]

ECIPH curated the End Malnutrition Initiative (EMI) which served as a pilot project to end the burden of under five child malnutrition in India. [12] The Institute had partnered with Gulf Medical University in Ajman, UAE during COP28 to hold a scientific discussion on issues of climate change and human health. [13] [14]

As part of the Ayushman Bharat School Health Services, ECIPH teams & Clinton Global Initiative have partnered with various institutions to impact over 1 million school children in healthy dietary habits and lifestyles. [15]

ECIPH Dialogues 2024 held discussions on various ways to reconstruct global health and social impact with Prof. Dr. Arthur L Frank delivering the Keynote address at Yenepoya Deemed to be University. [16]

It is bordered by Udupi district to the north, Chikmagalur district to the northeast, Hassan district to the east, Kodagu to the southeast and Kasaragod district of Kerala to the south. According to the 2011 census of India, Dakshina Kannada district had a population of 2,083,625. It is the only district in Karnataka state to have all modes of transport like road, rail, water and air due to the presence of a major hub, Mangalore. This financial district is also known as the Cradle of Indian banking.

Bhagirathi Murulya is an Indian politician who was first elected to office in 2023 as a member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly representing the Sullia constituency. She is a member of the women's and children's welfare committee. This seat had previously been held for six terms by Angara S., before Murulya was selected as a BJP candidate. Murulya belongs to the Tulu-speaking Adi Dravida community, and she was the poorest candidate to win a seat in the assembly. Murulya had worked as a tailor and a teacher before becoming a MLA. Murulya took the oath in the name of her family deity.

Korangrapady Prakash Shetty is an Indian entrepreneur and social worker who founded and chairs MRG Group, a hospitality and real estate company based in Bangalore, Karnataka. In 2019, he was awarded the Rajyotsava Award, the second-highest civilian honor by the Government of Karnataka.
