Edwin Ross Williams (born 1942) [1] is a physicist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. He received a B.A. from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1964, an M.S. in physics from University of Colorado Boulder in 1966, and a Ph.D. from Wesleyan University in 1970. [1]
Williams was awarded the status of fellow [2] in the American Physical Society [3] in 1994, after being nominated by the Topical Group on Instrument and Measurement Science for "excellence in measurement research leading to an upper limit or the rest mass of the photon and precision determination of the gyromagnetic ratio of the proton and of the fine-structure constant, and for leadership in highly accurate realizations of the base electrical units, the ampere, volt, ohm, and farad." Robert P. Behringer was an American physicist based at Duke University, whose research first dealt with critical phenomena and transport properties in fluid helium, such as Rayleigh–Bénard convection, and since 1986 was involved with granular material, where his most notable achievements were in the development of the technique of photoelasticity to study spatio-temporal fluctuations. This enabled him to extract vector forces from images of photo-elastic disks, which are models for granular materials. His research demonstrated the strongly fluctuating nature of granular flows. Another aspect of his research involved the concept of jamming in granular materials.
Edwin Lorimer Thomas is the Ernest Dell Butcher Professor of Engineering at Rice University and served as the William and Stephanie Sick Dean of the George R. Brown School of Engineering from 2011-2017. Thomas earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1963 and a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from Cornell University in 1974. Thomas was awarded the status of Fellow in the American Physical Society, after they were nominated by their Division of Polymer Physics in 1985, for being a leading authority on the application of electron microscopy and scattering techniques to problems in polymer structure-property relations and for contributions on mosaic block structure of semicrystalline polymers as well as on the structure of the noncrystalline solid state of glassy polymers.
David Kelly Campbell is an American theoretical physicist and academic leader. His research has spanned high energy physics, condensed matter physics and nonlinear dynamics. He also served as Physics Department Head at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, Dean of the College Engineering at Boston University, and Boston University Provost.
Michael Hass of the Weizmann Institute of Science was awarded the status of Fellow in the American Physical Society, after he was nominated by his Division of Nuclear Physics in 1999 for "innovative experiments on parity violation in nuclear electromagnetic decay and on measurements of electromagnetic moments of short lived nuclear states via the development of transient hyperfine magnetic field and tilted foil techniques essential to align and polarize nuclei."

Roderick V. Jensen from the Wesleyan University, was awarded the status of Fellow in the American Physical Society, after they were nominated by their Division of Materials Physics in 2000, for pioneering contributions to the understanding of strongly perturbed quantum systems that are classically chaotic, like Rydberg atoms in strong fields, and for the extension of the methods of nonlinear dynamics across many disciplines, from atomic physics and mesoscopic solid-state physics to biophysics and neuros.
Alamgir Karim, from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, was awarded the status of Fellow in the American Physical Society, after they were nominated by their Division of Polymer Physics in 2004, for pioneering research on polymer thin films and interfaces, polymer brushes, blend film phase separation, thin film dewetting, pattern formation in block copolymer films, and the application of combinatoric measurement methods to complex polymer physics.

Nagahara, of the National Cancer Institute, was awarded the status of Fellow in the American Physical Society, after he was nominated by their Topical Group on Instrument and Measurement Science in 2008, for his pioneering work in developing scanning probe microscopy and other nanotechnology platforms for the analysis, manipulation and measurements at the nanoscale and of molecular components and for the elucidation of the fundamental physical principles underlying these systems.
Dan Shapira is an American physicist from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He was awarded the status of Fellow in the American Physical Society, after he was nominated by the Division of Nuclear Physics in 2009, for contributions to the study of nuclear collisions: the discovery of nuclear orbiting, pioneering measurements of the space-time extent of particle-emitting sources, and seminal studies of fusion with n-rich exotic beams, and for development of innovative instrumentation to enable these studies.

He completed his undergraduate education in the National University of La Plata, Argentina in 1977. In 1982 he received his PhD from the same institution. He was awarded the status of Fellow in the American Physical Society, after they were nominated by their Division of Particles and Fields in 2009, for leading the introduction of ""matrix-element"" techniques for extracting precise measurements of standard-model parameters at hadron colliders and for seminal and vital contributions to the construction of the unique scintillating fiber tracker for the DZero experiment.
János Bergou is a Hungarian physicist and academic who is currently a professor at Hunter College in New York. In 2009, he was awarded the status of Fellow in the American Physical Society, after they were nominated by their Division of Laser Science in 2009, for "outstanding work in quantum optics and quantum information, in particular work on the theory of correlated emission lasers, the effect of pump statistics on the nature of the electromagnetic field produced in lasers and micromasers, and on quantum state discrimination."
LaNell Williams is an American physicist and virologist. She is the third African American woman to pursue a PhD in physics from Harvard University. She founded the Women+ of Color Project, which helps women of color gain the resources to apply to graduate programs as well as giving advice about life as a graduate student. Her research focuses on the self assembly of the virus, bacteriophage MS2.
Mathias Michael Schubert is a German physicist, J. A. Woollam Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and member of the Nebraska Center for Materials and Nanoscience. He is a specialist in spectroscopic ellipsometry and has contributed to the development of blue and white LED, fast processors and efficient biological and chemical sensors. He is also visiting professor at Linkoping University and Associate Editor of the journal Applied Physics Letters.
