Eko Putro Sandjojo (born 21 May 1965 in Jakarta) is an Indonesian politician. He was the Minister of Villages,Development of Disadvantaged Regions,and Transmigration in the Working Cabinet in Indonesia. He was appointed Minister on 27 July 2016 by Joko Widodo and until on 20 October 2019. [1] [2]
He is a graduate from the Jakarta State Polytechnic. Sandjojo holds a degree in Electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky which he obtained in 1991. In 1993,he also obtained a Masters from the Indonesia Institute for Management Development IPMI Business School.
In July 2016,he was appointed Minister of Villages,Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration by President Joko Widodo. [3] [4]
The transmigration program was an initiative of the Dutch colonial government and later continued by the Indonesian government to move landless people from densely populated areas of Indonesia to less populous areas of the country. This involved moving people permanently from the island of Java,but also to a lesser extent from Bali and Madura to less densely populated areas including Kalimantan,Sumatra,Sulawesi,Maluku and Papua. The program is currently coordinated by Ministry of Villages,Development of Disadvantaged Regions,and Transmigration.

The ceremony featured a stage designed as a 26-meter-high mountain with a waterfall. It weighed 600 tons,was 120 meters long and 30 meters wide,and included a display of Indonesian plants and flowers,as well as a mock volcano. The volcano symbolized Indonesia's location in the "Ring of Fire" surrounding the Pacific Ocean. Host event broadcasting company International Games Broadcast Services (IGBS) filmed the televised coverage of the ceremony live internationally.

The Nduga massacre was a shooting of construction workers that occurred on 1 December 2018,in Nduga Regency,Papua,Indonesia. The shooting is considered to be part of the Papuan conflict. Through its community development,it would help to speed up the development of villages. It's also the responsible for the Transmigration Program.

Halim is the brother of Muhaimin Iskandar,the leader of the PKB,and the great-grandchild of Bisri Syansuri,a politician and figure in the Nahdlatul Ulama. He is married to Lilik Umi Nasriiyah,the couple has 3 children.
