World Aquatics, formerly known as FINA, is the international federation recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for administering international competitions in water sports. It is one of several international federations which administer a given sport or discipline for both the IOC and the international community. It is based in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The El Salvador national football team, known as La Selecta, represents El Salvador in international football, and is governed by the Salvadoran Football Federation (FESFUT).
Emily Jane Feher is a water polo goalkeeper from the United States. She was a member of the US Women's Water Polo Team that won the silver medal at the 2005 World Aquatics Championships in Montréal, Canada.

Golda Lee Marcus is a two-time Olympic swimmer from El Salvador. She swam at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics. As of June 2009, she holds the Salvadoran records in the 400, 800, and 1500 meter freestyles.

Swimming competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto were held from July 14 to 18 at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre. Due to naming rights the arena was known as the latter for the duration of the games. Due to Pan American Games being scheduled to be held roughly around the same time as the 2015 World Aquatics Championships scheduled for Kazan, Russia, the swimming events were condensed into a five-day schedule.

Celina Márquez is a Salvadoran swimmer. She competed in the women's 50 metre backstroke event at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She and compatriot sailor Enrique Arathoon were named El Salvador's flag bearers for the 2020 Olympic Games opening ceremony in Tokyo. In college she swam for both the Houston Christian Huskies and the Nova Southeastern Sharks.
