Eline Roebers (born 22 May 2006) is a Dutch chess player who holds the title of International Master. She is the reigning Dutch Women's Champion and was the 2022 Dutch Youth Champion in the open division. [1] [2] Roebers was the 2020 online World Youth Champion in the under-14 girls' division, and was the first Dutch player to win a World Youth Championship in any category. Roebers began playing chess at age seven and she has been coached by Dutch International Master Robert Ris. [3] [4] [5] [6] Her father Jan is a FIDE Master (FM). [7] She won an individual bronze medal on the second board at the European Women's Team Championship in 2021. [8]
Roebers won the Brugse Meesters in Belgium in August 2021, finishing in joint first with a score of 7½/9 and having the better tiebreak criteria. [9]
She also became the youngest player and first woman to win the Untergrombach Open in Germany in January 2022, defeating Russian Grandmaster Vyacheslav Ikonnikov in the final round to finish in clear first with a score of 6½/7. [7] [10] In 2022, Roebers played board 1 for Dutch women at the 44th Chess Olympiad in Chennai, with a score of 7.5/10 (+6-1=3) [lower-alpha 1] and a TPR of 2532 which earned her an individual silver medal for her board 1 performance. As the lowest-rated player in the tournament, she defeated GM Erwin L'Ami in the Tata Steel Challengers 2023 tournament in the 2nd round after losing the first round to prodigy Abhimanyu Mishra.
She played in the Women's Chess World Cup 2023, defeating Yamama Asif Abdula Al Fayyadh, Mona Khaled and Klaudia Kulon, all by 2-0 margins, before being eliminated by Harika Dronavalli in the fourth round. [12]
She was ranked as the highest-rated woman of 18 years and younger on the August 2023 World FIDE standard rating list at a rating of 2407.
Roebers competed in the Tata Steel Challengers 2024 tournament, again as the lowest-rated player. [13] At the tournament, she (rated 2381) defeated the top two seeds Hans Niemann (rated 2692) and Mustafa Yılmaz (rated 2665), though she lost all of her other games. [14] In August 2024, she was the best among women in the "Riga Technical University Open" tournament "A". [15]

Ju Wenjun is a Chinese chess grandmaster and the current Women's World Champion. In March 2017, she became the fifth woman to achieve a rating of 2600. She is a four-time Women's World Chess Champion, having won the title first in May 2018. She then defended her title in November 2018, 2020, and 2023.
Erwin l'Ami is a Dutch chess grandmaster. He attained the title of grandmaster in 2005, and has reached a peak rating of 2651. l'Ami has represented the Netherlands at seven Chess Olympiads and won the 2015 Reykjavik Open.
Anish Kumar Giri is a Dutch chess grandmaster. A chess prodigy, he completed the requirements for the grandmaster title in 2009 at the age of 14 years, 7 months and 2 days. Giri is a five-time Dutch champion and won the Corus Chess B Group in 2010. He has represented the Netherlands at seven Chess Olympiads. He has also won major international tournaments, including the 2012 Reggio Emilia tournament, 2017 Reykjavik Open, 2023 Tata Steel Chess, and shared 1st place in the 2015 London Chess Classic. In 2019 he won clear first at the Third Edition of the Shenzhen Masters.
Robin van Kampen is a Dutch chess grandmaster. At the age of 14, he won the Dutch U20 Championship. He achieved his grandmaster (GM) title at the age of 16 years, 8 months and 17 days. Van Kampen has represented the Netherlands at the 2013 European Team Chess Championship, and at the 41st and 42nd Chess Olympiad. Van Kampen is a research analyst at Caption Partners in New York as of July 2020.
Zhansaya Abdumalik is a Kazakhstani chess player who holds the title of Grandmaster (GM). She is the first Kazakhstani woman, and the 39th woman overall, to earn the GM title. Abdumalik has a peak FIDE rating of 2505 and has been ranked as high as No. 11 in the world among women. Abdumalik has been a two-time girls' World Youth Champion as well as a girls' World Junior Champion. She is also a two-time Kazakhstani women's national champion, and has represented Kazakhstan in women's events at the Chess Olympiad, World Team Chess Championship, and the Asian Nations Chess Cup. On April 20, 2022, Zhansaya became the President of the Almaty Chess Federation.
Lei Tingjie is a Chinese chess player who holds the title of Grandmaster. She was the 2021 Women's Grand Swiss champion, the 2017 Chinese women's national champion and the 2022–23 Women's Candidates winner. Lei earned the Grandmaster title in 2017 at age 19, and was the sixth woman to obtain the title as a teenager.
Alina l'Ami is a Romanian chess player who holds the titles of International Master (IM) and Woman Grandmaster (WGM).
Sopiko Guramishvili is a Georgian and Dutch chess player, author, and commentator who holds the titles of International Master (IM) and Woman Grandmaster (WGM). Having represented Georgia for the bulk of her playing career, she has been an under-16 girls' World Youth Champion and an under-18 girls' Georgian national champion. She has a peak FIDE rating of 2441 and has been ranked as high as No. 42 in the world among women.
Gunay Vugar qizi Mammadzada is an Azerbaijani chess player who holds the titles of International Master (IM) and Woman Grandmaster (WGM) through the International Chess Federation (FIDE). She has been an under-10 girls' World Youth Champion, and both an under-8 and an under-14 girls' European Youth Champion. Mammadzada is a two-time Azerbaijani women's national champion, which she achieved in 2017 and 2019. She has represented Azerbaijan at the Chess Olympiad, the World Team Chess Championship, and the European Team Chess Championship, winning both team and individual bronze medals at the latter in 2019. Mammadzada has a peak FIDE rating of 2483 and has been ranked as high as No. 18 in the world among women.
Jhr. Jorden van Foreest is a Dutch chess grandmaster. He was Dutch Chess Champion in 2016, and won the Tata Steel Masters in 2021. As of September 2023, Van Foreest is the No. 2 ranked Dutch player behind Anish Giri.
Anna-Maja Kazarian is a Dutch chess player and Twitch live streamer who holds the titles of FIDE Master (FM) and Woman International Master (WIM). She was the 2020 Dutch Women's Internet Chess Champion and has also been an under-16 girls' European Youth Champion. Kazarian has a peak FIDE rating of 2320, which she achieved in 2016. She has represented the Netherlands at the Chess Olympiad and the European Team Chess Championship.
Nurgyul Salimova is a Bulgarian chess player. She was awarded the titles of International Master and Woman Grandmaster by FIDE in 2019. Salimova won the Bulgarian Women's Chess Championship in 2017. In 2023, she won the silver medal in Bulgarian Chess Championship, and was the only woman to compete in the open section.
Alireza Firouzja is an Iranian and French chess grandmaster. Firouzja is the youngest player to have surpassed a FIDE rating of 2800, beating the previous record set by Magnus Carlsen by more than five months.
Jhr. Lucas van Foreest is a Dutch chess grandmaster. He won the Dutch Chess Championship in 2019.
Divya Deshmukh is an Indian chess player who holds the title of Woman Grandmaster and International Master. She's a three-time gold medalist at the Olympiad. Deshmukh has also won multiple golds at the Asian Championship, the World Junior Championship as well as the World Youth Championship.
Hans Moke Niemann is an American chess grandmaster and Twitch streamer. He first entered the top 100 junior players list on March 1, 2019, and became a FIDE grandmaster on January 22, 2021. In July 2021, he won the World Open chess tournament in Philadelphia. He had a peak global ranking of No. 16 in September 2024.
Jkvr. Machteld van Foreest is a Dutch chess player. She has won several Dutch Youth Championships, including the open under-12 division in 2017 and 2018, the open under-14 division in 2018, and the girls' under-10 division in 2014 at age six. She finished in joint third place at the 2019 Dutch Women's Chess Championship at age 12. She finished in joint third place and fifth overall in the girls' under-12 division at the 2019 World Cadets Chess Championship. Van Foreest has a peak FIDE rating of 2363.
Thomas Beerdsen is a Dutch chess grandmaster.
