Elisabeth M. Long is a U.S. librarian,book artist,and academic administrator serving as the Sheridan dean of university libraries,archives,and museums at Johns Hopkins University since 2023. From 2021 to 2022,she served as the interim library director and university librarian of the University of Chicago Library.
Long's family moved to Baltimore when she was nine years old. [1] She attended the Bryn Mawr School. [1] She earned a B.A. from St. John's College. [1] She completed a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Maryland,College Park. [1] Long earned a M.F.A. in book and paper arts from the Columbia College Chicago. [1]
Long joined the University of Chicago Library in 1998. In 2016,she was promoted to associate university librarian for information technology and digital scholarship. From 2018 to 2019,she was a leadership fellow of the Association of Research Libraries. [2] From December 1,2021,to April 21,2022,Long served as the interim library director and university librarian,succeeding Brenda Johnson. [2] [3] Long is a book artist and has a printing studio. [1]
On January 3,2023,Long succeeded Winston Tabb as the Sheridan dean of university libraries,archives,and museums at Johns Hopkins University. [1]

Daniel Coit Gilman was an American educator and academic. Gilman was instrumental in founding the Sheffield Scientific School at Yale College,and subsequently served as the second president of the University of California,Berkeley,as the first president of Johns Hopkins University,and as founding president of the Carnegie Institution. Eponymous halls at both Berkeley and Hopkins pay tribute to his service. He was also co-founder of the Russell Trust Association,which administers the business affairs of Yale's Skull and Bones society. Gilman served for twenty five years as president of Johns Hopkins;his inauguration in 1876 has been said to mark "the starting point of postgraduate education in the U.S."
Belle da Costa Greene was an American librarian who managed and developed the personal library of J. P. Morgan. After Morgan's death in 1913,Greene continued as librarian for his son,Jack Morgan,and in 1924 was named the first director of the Pierpont Morgan Library. Despite being born to Black parents,Greene spent her professional career passing for white.
The Coretta Scott King Award is an annual award presented by the Ethnic &Multicultural Information Exchange Round Table,part of the American Library Association (ALA).
