Ella Vos (born Lauren Salamone) [1] is an American pop singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles. [2]

Career

A classically trained pianist, Vos worked as a keyboardist for BØRNS before deciding to pursue a career as a singer-songwriter after the birth of her son in 2015. [1] [3] [4] She first gained attention as a vocalist on the 2016 EDM track "Rolling Dice" by Just a Gent. [5] [6]

Her first solo single, "White Noise", a song about being a new mother, was released in October 2016. [1] Rolling Stone described it as "a seductive, gauzy, downtempo offering." [5] The Boston Globe called her single "You Don't Know About Me" "one of the most highly charged sociopolitical songs of 2017." [1] In 2018, she teamed with Icona Pop, VÉRITÉ, and Mija to remix "You Don't Know About Me" in support of the ACLU. [7] Her debut album Words I Never Said was released on November 17, 2017. [8] [9]

In 2017 she toured the US, and performed at the Bonnaroo Music Festival. [10] In February 2018 she embarked on the North American Words I Never Said Tour, with Freya Ridings. [11]

In 2018 she was named a Vevo dscvr Artist to Watch. [6] Her stage name means "she you" in Spanish. [1]

Her five-song EP Watch & Wait was released on January 25, 2019. [12] [13]

Tālā is the stage name of London-based musician Jasmin Tadjiky. She was raised in Kingston, South London, and attended a catholic school in Twickenham until she was 16, when she attended the BRIT School. She started learning to play music with piano lessons, jamming with her sitar- and tabla-playing father. She started making electronic music after being given the Reason music software as a teenager. TĀLĀ is not her real name, but rather chosen for its meaning.

It was a minor hit in her native UK, peaking at 52 whilst peaking within the top 50 in Australia and Canada. A remix featuring Nicki Minaj and Quavo peaked at number 8 in New Zealand. The song was written by Mai, Joelle James, Dijon "Mustard" McFarlane and Larrance Dopson of 1500 or Nothin', and produced by the latter two. It was nominated for Song of the Year and won Best R&B Song at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.
