Elliott Thompson (born 10 August 1992) is a British athlete. He is the 2022 British champion of decathlon. [1] He is the son of two time Olympic champion decathlete Daley Thompson. [2]
Thompson graduated with a degree in mechatronics and robotics from Leeds University and played rugby union as a back before suffering a serious shoulder injury. Thompson later worked as a personal trainer. [3] [4]
Thompson took up decathlon in 2016 at the age of 24 years-old. Thompson set a new personal best decathlon score of 7204 points in June 2022. He became national champion in the decathlon at the 2022 British Athletics Championships in Manchester. This came 46 years after his father Daley won his first British national title. [5]
He is the son of two time Olympic champion decathlete Daley Thompson. Elliot's brother Alex Clayton played rugby union for the University of Bath and England Sevens. [6]

Ashton James Eaton is a retired American decathlete and two-time Olympic champion, who holds the world record in the indoor heptathlon event. Eaton was the second decathlete to break the 9,000-point barrier in the decathlon, with 9,039 points, a score he bettered on August 29, 2015, when he beat his own world record with a score of 9,045 points, and remains the only person to exceed 9000 points twice. Tim Duckworth is an American-born decathlete, born to British parents, who competes internationally for Great Britain. He was the 2018 US Collegiate heptathlon Champion indoors where he set a British national indoor record and also he is the NCAA Decathlon Champion outdoors, with a score of 8336, Duckworth is the 3rd highest scoring decathlete in British history. In his senior debut for Great Britain at the 2018 European Athletics Championships he finished 5th and he won his first senior international medal, the silver medal, at the 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships.
